Fran Drescher
Forget Flushing — Fran Drescher is ready for Capitol Hill. The Nanny star has thrown her hat into the ring for the race for Hillary Clinton's Senate seat and says she's qualified, according to New York magazine.
"I've just been given the appointment of U.S. diplomat," said Drescher while at a party for HBO's Le Cirque: A Table in Heaven on December 3. "My title is public diplomacy envoy for women's health issues, and I just got back from a four-country European tour of duty. I believe next I'll be sent to the Middle East."
As cancer awareness activist, Drescher had been thinking about running for office. "I've been very successful in getting a bill passed in Washington," she said. "I was thinking I'd take the next four years to lay some groundwork, but I'm throwing my hat in the ring." The actress had even voiced

The easily-bruised egos of the various men of Entourage were the center piece of tonights episode and it made for some amusing moments While Im still patiently waiting for return of the laugh-out-loud lines of the early seasons it does seem like we have finally moved past Medellin For that I am grateful Mrs Aris outrageous anniversary Ferrari set the stage for a showdown between Ari and the increasingly loathsome Adam Davies As the escalating practical jokes took a nasty turn Ari was finally pushed over the edge when Davies tracked down some revealing photos featuring Mrs Ari in an early acting gig Watching Ari storm his former offices and confront the squirmy Davies was the treat of the night especially when he gallantly declared Games are games Daviesbut that is the mother of my children Well on second thought it was probably a strong second to Ari being man-handled by those police officer strippers while Lloyd cheered with giddy delight

Rosie O'Donnell by Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com
Her recent TV endeavors include very public disputes with cohosts (on The View) and disturbing turns on cable dramas (Nip/Tuck), but now Rosie O'Donnell wants to get back to the ha-has (remember she started in stand-up?), in the form of a new sitcom.According to a video blog posted on Rosie.com, O'Donnell and onetime Nanny Fran Drescher are working on a "fun, happy, family comedy" (as Drescher put it). "Fran and I have a new sitcom, but we can't talk about it, right?" said O'Donnell. Indeed, the Mouth's spokeswoman, Cindi Berger, tells the Los Angeles Times it's "way too premature" to discuss the prospective project, though Ro herself confirmed it to a fan on her site.No word yet on whether Tom Cruise will guest-star. Best Criminal Intent so far this season, hands down. After a couple of sensational episodes dealing with murdered beauty pageant contestants and murderous country singers, we finally got one with some real feeling. And a Thanksgiving episode, no less, from a franchise not exactly known for spreading around the holiday cheer. For me, the crime was really secondary this time out, so well get to that a little later. The heart of this episode was clearly Gorens relationship with his cancer-stricken(?) mother, whom I dont believe wed met before, but immediately explained a whole lot about what makes the beyond-quirky detective tick.Seeing Goren in plainclothes throughout the episode was strange enough, but watching him be openly emotional, even vulnerable, was something else altogether. However, while at first it was touching to see Gorens concern for his hospitalized mother including bailing on an in-progress search to rush back to her bedside ...

Well, tonight's hour makes it two freak-show episodes in a row. After last weeks Liza-fest, this time we got a whole motley crew: a country-punk producer with a fragile spleen, a bouncer who based his life on Batman and Mortal Kombat, and then the usual assortment of cokehead strippers and sleazeball club owners. And while this sideshow act made for an entertaining look into the seedy business thats birthed recent monstrosities such as Brooke Hogan and Paris Hilton, it wasnt exactly deeply resonant drama.Miss Western Pennsylvania may have slept with her producer and then had her husband unknowingly off the poor little guy, but she did it all for love. Really. Just like hubby did it all for love and bragging rights with his tobacco-chewin clan back east and assuaging his bruised ego. But for love, too.I didnt exactly feel anything, but Ill admit to being surprised when Miss Western PA pled to orchestrating the whole murder. I had pegged the h...

Fair warning! It's celebrity auction time on The Apprentice. Didn't you love the auctioneer? The teams designed and auctioned off a personal experience with a celeb and his/her dog to raise money for Broadway Barks. While the Fran Drescher experience pulled in a whopping $28,000 for Matchstick, the two other top bids went to Primarius' Sorvino and Oldham packages, resulting in a win for project manager Jim. Good for him, considering Martha handpicked him to lead the team. Was she setting him up? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, have you noticed how Martha has subtly and almost completely taken control of the show? Her surprise visit to/inspection of the loft, her choice of Jim as PM and again, her choosing the two to remain in the conference room — David and project manager Marcela — are signs to me that she likes to direct traffic. Anyway, it was nice to see that the candidates were not sta
