In 15th-century France, beggar poet François Villon (Oreste Kirkop), crowned "king for a day" by Louis XVI, patriotically rallies his fellow vagabonds to pick up their weapons when Paris is invaded by the barbaric Burgundians. Vincent Price narrates this adaptation of the Rudolph Friml operetta. Rita Moreno, Cedric Hardwicke, Walter Hampden, Jack Lord ("Hawaii Five-O") and Leslie Nielsen (of the Naked Gun films) all contribute to the revelry.
