Omni-consumer products corporation, the company which originally designed Robocop, has scheduled Detroit's largest neighborhood for extinction to make way for a gleaming new city in the future. After leaving the Detroit Police Department, Robocop Murphy, along with a child computer genius and a powerful array of hi-tech weaponry, joins forces with the embattled citizens to defend their homes.

Unknown to Robocop, the evil corporate empire which created him wants to take the city 'private,' and develop Robocop 2, a newer, bigger, and more powerful version to replace the original. The first sequel pits Robocop against a gang of drug dealers and the title creature -- a supposedly improved version of himself that has gone berserk.
