  • Housewife Refresher No. 3: Lynette | Catch Up with the Desperate Housewives | 4/10/2008
The Housewife:Lynette (Felicity Huffman)The Household:• Husband Tom (Doug Savant) — pizza-parlor owner with a bad back, allergies and a jealousy streak; presently very happy to be alive.• Son Parker (Zane Huett) — the least bratty brat who misses Ida Greenberg (Pat Crawford Brown), but now adores his babysitter Mrs. McCluskey (Kathryn Joosten), even though she can still be a Crabby Spice.• Twin sons Preston and Porter (Brent and Shane Kinsman) — brat squared.•... read more

  • Desperate Housewives Preview: Will Lynette Lose a Child? | TV Guide Interviews & Features | 1/24/2008
Fresh from playing a mother in crisis on the final, storm-tossed Desperate Housewives episodes (Sundays, 9 pm/ET, ABC) before the strike, Felicity Huffman traveled to the Sundance Film Festival for her new project Phoebe in Wonderland, in which she plays? a mother in crisis. Huffman, a real-life mother of two with husband William H. Macy, plays a character who fears she's a failure at both parenting and her career as she tries to help a daughter, played by 9-year-old Elle Fanning, who could be... read more
  • Secrets of Desperate Housewives' New Gay Neighbors Revealed! | TV Guide Interviews & Features | 10/19/2007
Two gay guys are about to shake up Wisteria Lane, but it's not their sexuality that's the issue ? it's their bad taste in art! On October 21, Desperate Housewives (Sundays at 9 pm/ET, ABC) will introduce newbie neighbors Bob and Lee ? played by Tuc Watkins (One Life to Live) and Kevin Rahm (Judging Amy) ? and they'll quickly get tiffy with Susan (Teri Hatcher). "Susan is so desperate to be nice, she puts her foot in her mouth and pisses them off," reveals creator Marc Cherry. "She and Lee ... read more
  • Ask Matt | 10/5/2007
I have enjoyed your take on the nightly TV offerings and agree for the most part. I wondered what you thought about the return of ABC's Sunday night, particularly Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. I really thought DH was back in good form with some great twists and an intriguing new family. It is nice to have Marcia Cross back full-time and keeping Kyle MacLachlan around as her husband was a smart move. I really enjoyed B&S more, though. Sally Field showed exactly why she won that... read more
  • May 20, 2007: Getting Married Today | Desperate Housewives | 5/21/2007
Well, they said the final scene would be a shocker, and they were right. I am speechless. You know how much I love my Edie. Would it be too much to ask to have Carlos heroically and miraculously walk in during the very first scene this fall and save her? I do not want this show to go on without Nicollette Sheridan. Yes, Edie is not one of the four main housewives, but the show would not be the same without her. Soap operas have had people hang themselves and be saved at the last minute. Until I... read more
  • Also at the Movies: De Niro and Pacino Hunt a Killer | Today's News: Our Take | 5/17/2007
Per Variety, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, whose only previous cinematic scene-sharing was in 1995's Heat, are cops tracking a serial slayer in Righteous Kill.... Felicity Huffman and Bill Pullman have come on board Phoebe in Wonderland, in which a drama teacher (Patricia Clarkson) tries to tame a rebellious girl (Elle Fanning).... Jason Bateman will produce and star in The Remarkable Fellows, a buddy comedy based on an outline from the Arrested alum, and concerning two brothers who exact... read more
  • May 13, 2007: What Would We Do Without You? | Desperate Housewives | 5/14/2007
Admit it — you got a little teary-eyed like I did at the end when Lynette was told the bad news that she might have lymphoma. And what did it for me was Tom slowly grabbing Lynette's hand and holding it, after she had tried the same thing with him (before the news), and he had rejected her hand. That scene between Felicity Huffman and Doug Savant with Lynette and Tom fighting in bed, the one that led them to get Lynette to the hospital, was a prime example of two actors at their very best.... read more
  • May 6, 2007: Into the Woods | Desperate Housewives | 5/7/2007
I just knew that Victor Lang (John Slattery) was going to turn out to be a bad guy. He seemed too perfect. But didn't you think his mean streak came out of nowhere? He acted as though Gabrielle had never done a stupid thing before with the way he yelled at her. Yes, Gaby jumped in his arms like a child when it looked as though he was going to win the mayoral race. Yes, Gaby can be a "high maintenance nightmare," as brilliantly described by Vern (Alec Mapa). And yes, Gaby got arrested for her... read more
  • April 29, 2007: Gossip | Desperate Housewives | 4/30/2007
Seems as though just about all of the housewives were having feelings for two men tonight. Susan had to choose between Ian and Mike; Gabrielle was dealing with her jealous feelings about Carlos while celebrating her engagement to Victor; and Lynette was further flirting innocently with Rick, much to the suspicions of Tom. For the first time ever, Edie was the only housewife devoting her attention to just one man. Nice change of pace for an episode that focused on the subject of gossip.First... read more
  • April 22, 2007: God, That's Good | Desperate Housewives | 4/23/2007
I love it when the DH writers give us those moments that involve a murder or a mystery and only one character is told the story behind the murder or the solution to the mystery, but we as viewers don't hear it and are left wondering. In this case, little Parker Scavo was told by Mrs. McCluskey exactly why her dead husband is inside her freezer, but he was sworn to secrecy. I assumed Ida Greenberg would be the one to first discover the secret (after seeing last week's coming attractions), but I... read more
  • April 15, 2007: Liaisons | Desperate Housewives | 4/16/2007
Last week, I complained about ABC revealing too much during their promos and coming attractions. This week, I must do the opposite. Thank you, ABC, for not revealing too much about the plot of this episode in last week's previews. We were simply teased without seeing any key plot developments. For all we knew, Edie and Carlos were going to have amazing sex together because of those Postman Always Rings Twice-like scenes they showed, not the "amazingly bad" sex they had their first two attempts.... read more
  • April 8, 2007: Dress Big | Desperate Housewives | 4/9/2007
It's been a month since we were last treated with a new episode. Was it worth the wait? For the most part, I'd say yes. These Marcia Cross-less episodes show just how pivotal both the actress and the character of Bree are to the show. But I think you'll agree that the consolation prize is pretty nice: No Bree = more Edie! Nicollette Sheridan rarely gets a chance to truly shine like she did tonight. That scene toward the end, with Edie undressing in front of Carlos, was one of Nicollette's best... read more
  • March 4, 2007: My Husband, the Pig | Desperate Housewives | 3/5/2007
What a refreshing change of pace: an entire episode told from the point of view of the husbands rather than the wives. And who better to narrate than one of the dead husbands? Rex Van De Kamp (Steven Culp), great to have you back, or at least your voice. Reminded me a bit of the one time George narrated instead of Meredith on Grey's Anatomy. Shifting the focus to the husbands was an effective way of keeping our minds occupied during the absence of Marcia Cross. You've heard of going braless;... read more
  • February 18, 2007: The Little Things You Do Together | Desperate Housewives | 2/19/2007
Those promos at the end of last week's episode were right. We finally got answers to so many questions involving Orson's past:— He was in a psychiatric ward in 1976 after the supposed suicide of his adulterous but religious father. (But now we know Gloria staged the suicide the same way she was trying to stage Bree's.)— Gloria had blamed Orson for her husband's death, saying Orson was supposed to watch out for him, but chose to go out with friends.— It was Gloria who killed... read more
  • February 11, 2007: I Remember That | Desperate Housewives | 2/12/2007
Three weeks ago (when the last new episode aired), I briefly whined: "When oh, when will we get to see Monique in flashbacks again?" So you know I was screaming with joy when I got my wish tonight! Not only did Monique (Kathleen York) reappear in a flashback, but we also got so many answers, as did Mike Delfino, all thanks to his hypnotherapist (Miriam Flynn). So Mike didn't kill Monique — Orson framed Mike by giving Mike his wrench back — the wrench that had Monique’s blood on... read more
  • January 21, 2007: Come Play Wiz Me | Desperate Housewives | 1/22/2007
After last week's laugh-filled hour, tonight was a bit of a letdown as far as the humor level goes. This doesn't mean I didn't like this episode — I just enjoyed it less, and I am in agreement with those of you who are starting to get a bit tired of the Alma story line. When, oh, when will we get to see Monique in flashbacks again? At least we know that those teeth are actually Monique's, as expected, and we found out what Alma was injecting herself with — hormones, so she'd get... read more
  • Happy New Year! | Regina Taylor's The Unit Blog | 1/16/2007
CBS' The Unit is back from holiday hiatus with a new episode [airing this Tuesday at 9 pm/ET]. In "The Broom Cupboard," the unit is assigned to protect a Texas senator who is touring in a hostile country. And Jonas is given a secret assignment by the president, played by William H. Macy, while Molly, Kim and Tiffy plan a surprise for Crystal.I spent the holidays back in Dallas. I love taking long walks every day through my neighborhood. Rolling hills and wide open sky. I think that limitless... read more
  • January 14, 2007: Not While I'm Around | Desperate Housewives | 1/15/2007
First thing I need to say right off the bat is how funny I thought the show was tonight. Not that I don't always think it's humorous, but I found it even funnier than normal. So I must commend the writers — co-executive producer Kevin Murphy and producer Kevin Etten — for a hilarious script. There were so many great lines, but I think my favorite was Lynette to Tom after Tom told her he wasn't inviting her to the opening of his new restaurant due to her snarky attitude, which made... read more
  • January 7, 2007: No Fits, No Fights, No Feuds | Desperate Housewives | 1/8/2007
As Nicollette Sheridan said to the women on The View last week: "Finally! A new episode!" I would've preferred more Nicollette tonight, though, besides just the final scene. But what a final scene — Alma is moving to Wisteria Lane, thanks to the real-estate savvy of Edie. The best episodes of DH are the ones like tonight that introduce new mysteries while further answering old ones. What was Alma giving herself a shot of in her thigh? For a while there, I thought she was killing herself,... read more
