Once Upon a Time Bosses Dissect Peter Pan's Motivations

Jennifer Morrison

This isn't the Peter Pan you remember from your childhood.

Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the rag-tag group of heroes and villains that attempted to rescue Henry (Jared Gilmore) in Neverland learned that the hard way during last week's Once Upon a Time. Coming face-to-face with Pan (Robbie Kay) and his Lost Boys, Emma was forced to confront the truth about herself: She's an orphan, having grown up without the love and care of Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas).

Once Upon a Time Postmortem: Will Emma & Co. be able to save Henry?

But it's Pan's threat that's the real problem. He swears that by the time Emma actually finds Henry, her son will want to stay on the island. And when she leaves, she won't just feel like an orphan — she'll actually be one. Unfortunately, that might be true after Charming was skimmed by an arrow doused with Dreamshade poison.

A hero, a villain, a pirate and a mother. That's what it's going to take to save Henry.

During Sunday's Once Upon a Time premiere, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) learned the hard way that it will take a group effort to save her son, even if that means teaming with the parents she can't forgive and the villains who have made her life hell. After surviving a storm literally brought on by their excessive fighting, Emma decided that it was time to take a leadership role in the group that will combine both the best of being pure of heart and dastardly evil.

But having heroes and villains teaming up won't be as easy as it sounds. In fact, it's quite the opposite, as the Charmings have to deal with their foes and internal family issues all while trying to save Henry.

The Evil Queen may get a chance to prove that she's not so evil after all.

Once Upon a Time's dastardly villain may get a chance to redeem herself in the season finale when Storybrooke is faced with certain annihilation, as Greg (Ethan Embry) and Tamara (Sonequa Martin-Green) get ready to activate the curse's trigger. Sure, Regina (Lana Parrilla) created the trigger as a backup plan to use someday, but certainly not when it would also put herself and her loved one — Henry (Jared Gilmore), of course — in danger. So what will she do when the entire town is faced with destruction? TVGuide.com turned to Parrilla to get the scoop on that and her feelings about the Evil Queen's not-so evil — and sometimes super-evil — motives during Season 2.
