Featuring lavish sets and lush period costumes, this 1955 biopic chronicles the life and turbulent times of controversial German composer Richard Wagner (Alan Badel), with Yvonne De Carlo, Rita Gam and Valentina Cortese portraying the women in his orbit. Although the film takes some dramatic license and ignores some of Wagner's whopping character flaws, the orchestrations of his best-known works save the picture.
