  • Grew up on a farm in Kansas.
  • Got hooked on acting after landing a small role in Craig Lucas' play Prelude to a Kiss, for which a friend had dared him to audition.
  • After college, moved to Chicago, where he found work in TV commercials and studied with the Second City and ImprovOlympic (now IO) comedy groups.
  • Had breakout role as Sheldon the hotel desk clerk in Almost Famous (2000).
