Exclusive Details on Isaiah Washington's TV Return

Isaiah Washington by Jean Baptiste Lacroix/ WireImage.com

Isaiah Washington has been booked for a guest-starring role on A&E's The Cleaner, which premieres this Tuesday at 10 pm/ET. Though details were few at first, I have since uncovered lots more on how the Grey's Anatomy alum will fit into the episode. In "The 11th Hour," Washington will play a traditional, well-schooled interventionist who crosses swords with Benjamin Bratt's title character — a recovered addict who has his own "unconventional" ways of helping others — when they both attempt to treat the same girl.Since parting ways with ABC's Grey's Anatomy, Washington's only TV appearance has come in the form of a mini-run on NBC's short-lived Bionic Woman. (Well, that and as a newspaper clipping on the Seattle Grace bulletin board. But let's not go there.) He also has done the occasional indie. Other guest-stars on The Cleaner will include Tate Donovan (Damages), Annabeth Gish (Brotherhood), Kathy Baker and Eric Roberts. — Matt Mitovich read more

Eric Roberts by Chris Large/NBC

So is there anything to fear in Fear Itself The new NBC summer horror anthology premieres on June 5 and if the first episode Sacrifice is any indication audiences will more likely be more grossed out than freaked But you will get to see some familiar faces in these scary stories Friday Night Lights star Jesse Plemons plays one of the lead characters in the first installment When Plemons was asked if his Sacrifice character sounded similar to Landry on FNL he responded I kind of pictured him as a similar type of guy as Landry on Friday Night Lights Theres a dialogue in the script it just seemed like he is one of those kids that didnt quite fit inEric Roberts is the star of the second episode Spooked and says he was drawn to the part because of the producers great reputations and that his commitment came through because of the script itself It was just juicy Apparently Roberts has been offered to play many crazy people but this guy was kin read more

NBC Hopes to Scare Up Ratings with Fear Itself

NBC has recruited a long list of noted directors, actors and writers for its 13-episode suspense and horror anthology series Fear Itself. The series, produced by LionsGate and Industry Entertainment, will boast the work of award-winning horror directors John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Darren Bousman (Saw II), Brad Anderson (The Machinist), Mary Harron (American Psycho), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) and Heroes' Ernest Dickerson. Superman Returns' Brandon Routh and Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss join Cynthia Watros (Lost), Eric Roberts (Heroes) and Larry Gilliard Jr. (The Wire), along with a boatload of other actors who will earn some screen time in one of the series' episodes. And just what kind of horrors can you expect? Landis' "A Nightmare in Lace" follows a bride who receives word on her wedding day that her groom is a serial killer, and Harron's "Community" features a young couple who find their dream home in the perfect neighborhood (until their neighbors start killing ... read more

Can Heroes' Big Baddie Contain an Outbreak?

Pandemic's Eric Roberts

In Hallmark Channel's Pandemic (premiering Saturday at 8 pm/ET, repeating Sunday at 6), when flu-like symptoms kill a young man aboard a plane en route to Los Angeles from Australia, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (one Tiffani Thiessen) orders the quarantine of all the passengers. Alas, containing an outbreak never proves to be simple, and soon a hunt is on for Patient Zero. Playing the mayor of Los Angeles during this crisis is Eric Roberts, most recently of Heroes but more notably from any number of films. Oh, and he's Julia's brother and up-and-comer read more

Bombs Away on Heroes and 24

There’s a reason Heroes gets first billing over 24 this week in describing Monday’s explosive episodes of these head-to-head thrillers. (In one, a man-made bomb went off. In the other, a man WAS the bomb, and he set off a firestorm of plot complications.) Simply put, Heroes blew 24 away in what was easily the freshman fantasy’s finest, most sensationally entertaining episode. It was one of those turning-point, game-changing episodes that could launch an already successful show to the top tier of can’t-miss TV (a status some bestowed on Heroes even before it hit its recent stride). Not that 24 was playing dead. But even detonating the bomb in an assassination attempt against President Not-David Palmer wasn’t enough to rouse this show from its midday stupor. (Spoiler alert: According to the previews, it looks like the blast was effective enough to take Wayne out of commission long enough for Vice President Cy Tolliver McEvil to take charge for a while.) What a ... read more

February 26, 2007: I'm Just a Paper Salesman

I had been anxiously awaiting the outcome of the situation we were left with last week: Ted and Matt had HRG up against a wall… his own wall, where his happy little family picture hangs untouched, lying to anyone who enters. Inside the Texas home, questions were rising higher than the heat from Ted's hands. It was cool to see how Ted and Matt got into the house in the first place. That radioactive power comes in pretty handy for B&Es. I loved the scene between Matt and Claire when Matt was slowly piecing together bits of the past and Claire was too scared to say much out loud so her thoughts became Matt's only guidance. Meanwhile, Ted was going ballistic. (I wonder how it felt for Matthew John Armstrong to be pointing a gun at his real-life wife.) Luckily for Parkman, without The Haitian around, HRG's thoughts were a lot clearer. Interesting how quickly the tables turned and HRG and Matt were working together to get Ted to believe them. "If you're not back in an hour, look ... read more

February 25, 2007: And the "O" Goes To...

Steamy, steamy night tonight! We haven't had an episode like that in quite a while. *fanning myself off*Now then."Oh, Sounder, am I going to burn in hell?" Uh... yes, Jenny, you are.Jenny's even more obnoxious as a hot Hollywood commodity now. I love how Bette was able to impress Jenny's agents on behalf of Tina, and I also enjoyed seeing Tina's humanity return to the story. I really felt for her, and found the opening scene between she and Bette to be particularly sensitive and beautiful. That's the Tina I always liked, and I hope that they'll continue moving her into a softer, more sympathetic direction throughout the remainder of the season. It seems that our new "dragon lady" is Cathryn. It feels like she's the person that Helena used to be, and I fear that her influence on Helena is dangerous. I couldn't believe it that Cathryn was able to talk Helena into canceling her "date" with the kids. Even back when Helena was "the" official ice queen of the L Word, she loved her kids mor... read more

January 7, 2007: Lifestyles of the Rich and Penniless

A grueling and intense Season 3 of The L Word went out with quite a she-bang last year, and I really couldn't begin to guess how or where this season would begin. Quite honestly, I'm still shocked that we lost Dana to breast cancer, and I miss her already. So wow, where to begin after tonight's episode hit the ground running?First of all, here's Papi! Also, Our Chart is real, check it out. It's currently down at about 10:30/CT, but I'm sure that's from network overload from everyone's curiosity after seeing it in tonight's premiere (brilliant cross-platform promotion in action, there). My favorite L Word relationship right now is Helena and Alice, two polar opposites with great chemistry and wonderful comedic timing. When Helena was first introduced as the tyrant that she once was, I really did not enjoy watching her, because she seemed too much like a caricature. Once the writers began to soften her up and make her seem more like a real (though filthy rich) person, to my surprise she... read more
