Gloucester, England-born Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) and Harold & Kumar's John Cho are boarding J.J. Abrams' Star Trek feature in the roles of engineering wizard/Romulan-ale enthusiast Montgomery Scott and Lt. Hikaru Sulu, says the Reporter. They join other future Enterprisers Zachary Quinto (as Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov), while Eric Bana has been tapped to play the villain. I know what you're wondering: But who... has... the com? According to the trades, Chris Pine is in talks to play young Kirk. Just My Luck, indeed. In his native Australia Saturday, Eric Bana slammed his beloved 1974 Ford XB Coupe into some trees during the Targa Tasmania rally. While he and his copilot emerged unscathed, the car was totaled. Per the Hollywood Reporter, Chris Columbus is in talks to helm The Lightning Thief, a family fantasy based on the first novel in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and concerning a boy who discovers he descends from a Greek god.... Eric Bana is a librarian who involuntarily juts to and fro in time and Rachel McAdams is the woman he falls in love with in The Time Traveler's Wife.... Writer-director Gideon Raff (The Killing Floor) is remaking 1980's Terror Train.... The soundtrack for Shrek the Third finds Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas dueting on Sly & the Family Stone's "Thank You" and Fergie covering Heart's "Barracuda." Also on the May 15 CD: Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" and Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die."

Setting the tone for the evening, Joan Rivers begins with a slightly disturbing scene in which she spreads 'em for Matt Dillon in Crash and groans a lot. And she warns us that there are many more such scenes from the nominated movies to come. Next she gives a nod to Isaac Mizrahi's infamously presumptuous Golden Globes coverage at rival E!. "I would never be so presumptuous!" she declares while she pokes Lisa Rinna in the boob. Instead of groping her interviewees, she'll be using cards to indicate whether they are wearing underwear and/or have real breasts. This'll be interesting.
