Survivor: China: Fireworks and Fishing Gear

Oh, Sherea! Sherea Lloyd by Monty Brinton/CBS

Episode Recap: "Ride the Workhorse 'Til the Tail Falls Off"Have I mentioned what an interesting group of people we have playing Survivor: China? There is such a wide variety of folks on this show that each week I feel like I'm watching an entirely new program. That's a good thing, because it is keeping the show fresh. Last week Jean-Robert was the guy you just wanted gone. This week, while you may still want him to disappear, he turns out to be an asset to the tribe. Who knew he could speak Mandarin? Fei Long won the reward challenge – a giant chopstick, flaming ball and fireworks affair – and earned fishing gear and a lesson from a local family on how to catch fish using trained diving birds. Jean-Robert stepped up as the translator, and the tribe got a lot of useful information because of him. Talk about pulling a trick out of the hat at the right time. This week's kidnapping victim was Dave, who was swiped from the arms of his had-it-up-to-here-with-him tribe. Dave d... read more

Hulk Crashes But Thankfully Doesn't Burn

In his native Australia Saturday, Eric Bana slammed his beloved 1974 Ford XB Coupe into some trees during the Targa Tasmania rally. While he and his copilot emerged unscathed, the car was totaled. And what I suspect hurt the most was that, of 115 cars in the Outright Classic race, he'd only placed 53rd. That's gonna leave a mark. Monday's news was written by Ben Katner. read more

Joan Melissa LIVE at the Academy...

George Clooney

Joan & Melissa LIVE at the Academy Awards5:30: I'm so glad my colleagues over at the channel have decided to go blue for the red carpet. Setting the tone for the evening, Joan Rivers begins with a slightly disturbing scene in which she spreads 'em for Matt Dillon in Crash and groans a lot. And she warns us that there are many more such scenes from the nominated movies to come. Next she gives a nod to Isaac Mizrahi's infamously presumptuous Golden Globes coverage at rival E!. "I would never be so presumptuous!" she declares while she pokes Lisa Rinna in the boob. Instead of groping her interviewees, she'll be using cards to indicate whether they are wearing underwear and/or have real breasts. This'll be interesting. 5:33: Joan gives her own thank-you speech tailor-made to offend her entire crew: "We are color-blind here at TV Guide. Right, black person?" Then she fills the time read more

Has Julian McMahon ever been ...

Question: Has Julian McMahon ever been in the running to be the next Bond? He's the only actor I can think of who'd be as perfect a fit for the role as Pierce Brosnan.Answer: The legendary search for Scarlett O'Hara has nothing on the quest for Bond, James Bond. Julian McMahon, the charismatic, Australian-born star of TV's Nip/Tuck has been mentioned as a candidate for the role in the upcoming Casino Royale and, presumably, the next several entries in the 007 franchise. But as far as I can tell, just about every handsome, athletic English/New Zealand/Scottish/Welsh/Australian actor in the 30-40ish age range has been proposed for the part. The candidates have included Australians Hugh Jackman read more
