Emily Maynard, Jef Holm
After suffering heartbreak at an early age and a failed romance on The Bachelor, single mom Emily Maynard has finally gotten her happy ending.
On Sunday night's Bachelorette finale, viewers watched Emily say goodbye to Arie, with whom she had an intensely strong connection from the beginning, and hand out her final rose to Jef. And although host Chris Harrison was sure Emily would not get engaged just yet, she surprised him by saying yes.
Our Bachelorette Emily has finally chosen the man she wants to be with! Was it Jef or was it Arie and did they ultimately propose? Keep reading to find out.
[Spoiler Alert! The following story reveals the outcome of The Bachelorette finale.]
The Bachelorette's Southern single mom Emily has narrowed down a field of 25 suitors to choose the man she wants to marry.
The Bachelor Track Record: See where the couples are now
The Bachelorette's Emily Maynard isn't the only one conflicted over which man she should choose. TVGuide.com users are too!
In a recent poll asking if Emily should choose Arie, Jef, neither or the recently eliminated Sean, voters were almost evenly split between the guys.
The Bachelorette's Emily Maynard began her journey with 25 men, but after axing cocky Ryan, awkward Doug, an Ostrich egg-carrying Travis and pompous Kalon (he of the "baggage" comment infamy), among others, the 26-year-old single mom has narrowed down the field to two men.
It's my favorite episode of The Bachelorette season when Emily reunites with her more memorable "exes." First, Emily chats with Chris Harrison about some of the more interesting and dramatic moments throughout the season, including Ryan's "trophy wife" comment and Kalon's "baggage" remark and some of the painfully awkward times like Doug's mid-breakup kiss. So what did the men have to say for themselves? Let's find out!
Not yet! First, we get...
Bachelorette host Chris Harrison warned us that Emily and Kalon's interaction on Monday's Men Tell All episode would be contentious — and boy, was he right.
In a clip from the upcoming episode, Kalon attempts to apologize for calling Emily's daughter Ricki "baggage" on the show. "Emily, obviously, I would like to apologize for the way things transpired. ... I am trying to use it as a growing experience in my future relationships," he says.
On this week's episode of The Bachelorette, Emily sadly and tearfully said goodbye to Sean and even host Chris Harrison says he welled up watching their farewell.
"I just wanted to give the guy a hug and make it OK and give her a hug," Harrison tells TVGuide.com. "You'll see next week at the 'Men Tell All' he's still heartbroken."
Keep reading for more on Harrison's reaction to the fantasy dates, why he's proud of Emily and whose hot-seat conversation next week is extremely uncomfortable. Plus: Why did Emily ask to not watch the guys' video messages?
Emily, Sean, Arie and Jef arrive Curacao for a week of fantasy dates. Before the dates begin, Emily talks about her time with all the men. She says she immediately had a connection with Sean, who she says gives her butterflies. Jef, who rode in on a skateboard Night 1, "marches to his own drum," she says. He has an edge, but is also kind and thoughtful, which she loves. Then there's Arie, who Emily says she hit it off with right away. Emily tears up as she imagines her life with Arie and how much he would adore her.
Enough with the mushy stuff, let's get to the hot-and-steamy dates! Sean and Emily meet on the beach where they take off in a helicopter that transports them to a private island. They talk about their hometown date and a comment his family made about him treating his ex like a buddy, which raised a red flag for Emily. Sean explains that after a while he wasn't in love with his ex, but that it's not the love he's experiencing with Emily. Sean then stutters and doesn't yet say the "L" word to her directly. Sean changes the topic and they go off to snorkel in the ocean. That night Emily and Sean have a romantic dinner on the beach. Sean talks about how he's ready for a family and then pulls out a letter he wrote for Ricki.
"I hope to honor you by loving your mom with every ounce of my being," he says. Emily melts as he continues to spout such meaningful words.
It's fantasy date week on The Bachelorette, but will single mom Emily offer up the overnight fantasy suite card?
The Bachelorette's Chris Harrison: "Emily narrowed it down to three phenomenal guys"
In the first clip from Monday's episode, Emily presents Jef with the offer, but he doesn't necessarily jump at the chance to spend a night alone with Emily. "That's a tough question to ask," Jef says.
