Put on your dancing shoes! Elizabeth Berkley's CSI: Miami Stay Has Got Legs

David Caruso and Elizabeth Berkley in CSI: Miami by Ron P. Jaffee/CBS

If you thought H's hellion of an ex-lover was walking off into the sunset, think again. Elizabeth Berkley, while making the rounds to promote Bravo's Step It Up & Dance (premiering tonight at 11 pm/ET, before moving to 10 o'clock next week), let slip to TVGuide.com that she in fact has "many more" CSI: Miami appearances ahead of her. Or, as she teased with a wicked grin, "Things are just getting started" when it comes to the havoc Julia Winston will wreak on her lawman ex. I'm getting the unsettling vibe that she may dare to tamper with his Ray-ban collection! Hussy. CSI: Miami, it should be reminded, returned to boffo ratings these past two weeks, and in this past Tuesday's special airing gave CBS its best numbers in that 10 o'clock slot in some five years. Do not underestimate the power of the Jesse Spano fan. — MWM read more

Thanks to the writers' ...

Question: Thanks to the writers' strike, I caught an episode of CSI: Miami for the first time Monday night. Can I just say how god-awful this show is? There were moments when I felt like I was watching Skin-a-Max. Elizabeth Berkley always looked on the verge of stripping and getting it on with David Caruso, while long, sheer curtains billowed in the background. Plus, all that crazy cinematography! Was the whole thing shot through an amber fractal lens? I guess it was there to distract us from the cheesy dialogue and wooden acting. How has that show lasted this long? I guess it's a matter of taste, and this surely isn't mine. Thanks for letting me vent — I really needed to purge myself! Answer: Can't say I blame you. I wanted to wash my eyeballs out after being assaulted for an entire high-def hour with all of that busy, annoying camerawork. It felt like I was trapped in a kaleidoscope. Unfortunately, you could still mostly see and hear the actors, who just get more mannered by the ... read more

Jeers: CSI: Miami's New Showgirl

Elizabeth Berkley and David Caruso by Ron P. Jaffe/CBS

Jeers to CSI: Miami for ludicrously miscasting Elizabeth Berkley as the mother of Horatio Caine's creepy teenage doppelgänger. Just when she'd finally put the twin ignominies of Saved by the Bell and Showgirls behind her, the glassy-eyed actress delivered a performance so stiff and artificial, she made David Caruso (who's rapidly turning into the new Hasselhoff) seem like Daniel Day-Lewis. Speaking of surrealism, what was with the visual gimmick that made the entire episode look like it was shot inside a beehive? This show gets weirder every week. It used to be watchable; now it's the TV equivalent of the Miami Dolphins.• Read and react to Bruce's opinions on The Wire, CSI and more!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

Not only is she beginning a six-episode stint as a shady lady on CSI: Miami (10 pm/ET, CBS) tonight, but repeats of her classic kid-com Saved by the Bell are also debuting on The N tonight at 6 pm/ET. We spoke with the perky Berkley about her old days, her new gig and what she's got kicking around for the future. TV Guide: OK, it's so cool to be talking to Saved by the Bell 's Jessie Spano. She was my generation's feminist, our That Girl. Elizabeth Berkley: Yeah! [Laughs] And there's a new generation watching it now. The N is beginning to show it. TV Guide: There's actually a marathon today! The same day you start on CSI: Miami. What's with this CSI character? Berkley: Let's just say that [she's] Horatio's read more
