MATT: I see where you're going with this. Since Season 8 is set in New York City, you're hoping Jack and Audrey will rendezvous, Sleepless in Seattle-style, atop the Empire State Building. Well, put a pin in that dream for now. For starters, you should be with me in wanting Jack with Renee, not Audrey. Beyond that, ABC's Inside the Box pilot is undergoing retooling/technically still in play, so Raver might not exactly be available. But one Kim you can plan on returning is Jack's daughter — sources tell me Elisha Cuthbert has already filmed scenes for Day 8's first few hours.

MATT: When I asked Kiefer Sutherland about the nature of Kim's latest encore (slated for mid-April), he said, "Something has happened to Jack, and it's he who asks for her — normally it's the other away around." Kiefer went on to call the father-daughter reunion "very human and real ... a part of the show I'm excited for the audience to see." So your theory sounds about right. Just don't expect the now-married Kim to have Pony Boy at her side; her Season 5 romance apparently didn't take.

Hockey star Sean Avery has been skating on thin ice, and he knows it. The Dallas Stars player apologized Wednesday for comments he made about ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert (aka 24's Kim Bauer) that unleashed potential disciplinary action and a public reprimand.
"I should not have made those comments and I recognize that they were inappropriate," he said in a statement. "It was a bad attempt to build excitement for the game, but I am now acutely aware of how hurtful my actions were."
His apology came on the heels of criticism for an interview he gave Dec. 2. "I love Canada," he began. "I just wanted to comment on how..." More, after the jump.

Tim Allen will star in The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, a comedy about a man whose wife and five exes fight over his will when he is believed dead. Andie McDowell, Kelli Garner, S. Come mid-July — Friday the 13th, in fact — the latest salvo in the "torture-porn" genre hits theaters, though for a moment there, it was questionable whether Captivity would ever see the dark of the moviehouse. In March, MPAA-unauthorized ads for the flick leaked out, drawing more than a little controversy for their depiction of Elisha Cuthbert in assorted states of grisly distress. Appearing Thursday at the Times Square Planet Hollywood to immortalize her handprints in cement, Cuthbert told TVGuide.com she was "actually shocked" by the outcry, "because a lot of films out right now, like [the] Saw and Hostel [series], have sort of 'raised the bar' as far as the genre goes."
