A new financial analyst at the station gets Frasier in hot water. Author and financial analyst, Julia Wilcox, is hired at the station to do a stock market report during the last 10 minutes of Frasier's show. She is infamous for losing her job after writing a financial advice book that cost many investors large sums of money. Her curt personality and rude behavior immediately makes her an outcast at the station. Frasier believes she is just bitter from enduring public humiliation and tries to warm up to her, but to no avail. The more he complains about her, the more his family thinks he likes her, which he denies. Julia continues to belittle Frasier and they end up in a heated argument. As they get closer and the name-calling intensifies, Frasier misreads her actions asks if she is as turned on as he is. She is appalled and he immediately apologizes, but Kenny gets wind of the incident and fears that she will sue the station for sexual harassment. So, Kenny schedules a mandatory sexual harassment seminar for Saturday and everyone blames Frasier for ruining their weekend. The painfully boring seminar leader, Van, involves the group in a role-playing activity. Bulldog and Noel nearly come to blows over a hypothetical scenario involving Roz. It's not long before Frasier and Julia face each other in the hot seat and speak their minds. After Julia assures Kenny that she won't sue, the session is cancelled. Afterwards, Frasier leaves Julia defenseless when tells her she's afraid of failure and is covering up her insecurities. Julia returns to the station with a new attitude towards Frasier and despite their continued bickering, they move towards a friendship. Meanwhile, Niles is running into problems when he is forced to see patients at his apartment while his office is being remodeled.

Niles fears that his toothache is the symptom of a heart condition. Interviewing housekeepers turns into a difficult task when Frasier realizes that no one can fill Daphne's shoes. When an attractive thirty-something candidate, Trish (guest star Ana Gasteyer), arrives late for her interview, Frasier is leery and puts her to the test. However, Martin is so impressed by her interest in the Sonics that he hires her on the spot. Frasier disagrees with Martin's rash decision and washes his hands of all responsibility. Meanwhile, Niles has a toothache and is paranoid that it's a symptom of a heart condition, which is a very rare occurrence. Everyone laughs at the likelihood, until he defies odds all week--his car is struck by lightening, he wins a fanny pack twice, a one-in-ten-thousand chance, and he gets 'tails' every time he flips a coin. He is sure his toothache is an omen of something much worse and wrestles with how to tell Daphne his fate. Martin quickly discovers that Trish is totally incompetent and never shows up for work; however, he is too proud to admit his mistake to Frasier. Instead, he covers up by doing all of the housework himself, trying to keep up with Frasier's impossible demands. Finally, Martin gets fed up when Trish stops by expecting to get paid, even though she hasn't lifted a finger. Martin fires her on the spot and admits to Frasier that he should have listened to him. When Niles meets with his doctor, he is taken aback to learn that he there is an anomaly on his EKG and that he must be checked into the hospital immediately.

Niles has just been re-elected as the 'corkmaster' of his wine club. Shortly after the inauguration, Frasier announces his resignation from the club. He has just been presented with the opportunity to host a new radio show entitled 'The Wine Corner' where he will discuss the many splendors of wine and will not have any time to participate in the wine club. Everyone is deeply sad about the situation and they plead with Frasier not to leave, but he has to move on. The club members rise and sing their farewell song to him as he exits. A few days later, Frasier is preparing for his debut show by sipping on some wine and taking notes. Martincomments on his afternoon drinking and jokes about the situation while waiting for his new physical therapist to show up. He hasn't been doing any exercising since Daphne has been away and now he will be forced to with his new therapist, Frederica. She happens to be a burly woman who used to be a weight trainer for the women's English Olympic team and is a drill sergeant when it comes to exercising. Martin adapts quickly and is always rewarded with her delicious culinary dishes.

Roz and Frasier finish their workday at the radio station when Kenny drops in to announce the new SeaBea nominations. Roz does not see their show listed and everyone is a little surprised. Kenny finds another page and it does more than nominate the show for an award but states that Frasier has won the Lifetime Achievement Award. The night of the awards, Niles shows up at Frasier's door dressed in his tux. He holds a large flower arrangement. The flowers are for Frasier from his old Harvard mentor, William Tewksbury who's spending his sabbatical in Washington. The card reads 'Congratulations, Frasier, you must be very proud.' As Frasier is admiring his arrangement, Martin gives Niles a gift. Martin wants Niles to know today may be a special day for Frasier, but he has two special sons. It's a coffee mug with 'World's Greatest Psychiatrist' on it. Niles is very excited. Frasier studies the card that came with the flowers and is concerned. It doesn't say 'I am very proud of you, but you must be very proud.' He decides to leave for the awards a little earlier so he can stop by and thank William Tewsbury in person . It turns out that Mr. Tewsbury didn't write the card himself but had his secretary write it. Frasier questions if Tewsbury subconsciously communicated his emotions to his secretary. The two get into a psychobabble debate about Frasier's dissatisfaction with his career and his life.
