Keck's Exclusives: Modern Family Actor's Meaty Award

Ed O'Neill

Modern Family patriarch Ed O'Neill (Jay Pritchett) received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday — but surprisingly, he's more even excited about his customary bonus gift awarded to each recipient — a $9 loaf of pumpkin bread baked by the Dominican nuns of L.A.'s Monastery of the Angels. Why? Ed loves meat. I mean, he really, really loves meat and just can't wait to use the bread for sandwiches.

10 Cool Things From The Walking Dead Panel at Comic-Con

Sarah Wayne Callies and Andrew Lincoln

"It's all about slim chances now, and a slim chance is better than none." This grim, yet hopeful statement wraps up the Season 2 trailer of AMC's The Walking Dead that premiered at Comic-Con on Friday in San Diego. The zombie series is currently in production in Georgia, but the cast and crew took a break from the heat and ticks (yes, ticks) to sit in an air-conditioned ballroom to share a few choice morsels with fans. Laurie Holden, who plays Andrea, promises, "If you're a fan of The Walking Dead graphic novel, you're going to love this season."

Critic's Notebook: The Emmy Nominations

Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler

The Emmy voters are nothing if not creatures of habit, so in a year of very few new breakout hits, it's no surprise that the surprises are far and few between. (For a list of top nominees, go here.)

But there were some doozies — the most startling being the snub for The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick, last year's unexpected winner for drama actress. As the TNT hit enters the beginning of its final stretch, Sedgwick was knocked out by new arrivals Mireille Enos, the haunting star of AMC's controversial The Killing, and Oscar winner Kathy Bates, who carries NBC's quirky sleeper success Harry's Law. (Frontrunner in the drama actress race is unquestionably The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies, as the CBS critics' darling boasts nine nominations, towering above all other network dramas, trailing only HBO behemoths Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones).

Emmy Nominee Ty Burrell: Community Deserved to Be Nominated

Ty Burrell

The Modern Family team may be on cloud nine right now after scoring 17 Emmy nominations, but Ty Burrell can only think of those who didn't make the cut.

"I definitely feel like Community is really strong and falls into that category of shows that deserved to be nominated," he tells TVGuide.com. "It's a great show and should be up there with us. I was really happy to see Parks and Recreation nominated. Several of the actors on that deserved to be nominated. It's true of most shows. I feel like they should ...

Emmys Surprises and Snubs: Kyra's Out, But Game of Thrones Is In!

Kathy Bates, Kyra Sedgwick

After pulling an upset last year over Julianna Margulies, Kyra Sedgwick won't be back to defend her Emmy win this year as The Closer leading lady was nowhere to be found on the drama actress shortlist. But her snub isn't the only shocker on Emmy nominations morning.

Exclusive Video: Modern Family's Ed O'Neill Is a Wartime Hero on Kick Buttowski

Kick Buttowski, Ed O'Neill

Ed O'Neill plays a husband, father and grandfather of four children on Modern Family, so it's no problem for him to get the grandfather treatment on Disney's Kick Buttowski — Suburban Daredevil.

When Kick helps his grandpa (O'Neill) clean out the closet, he finds an old medal inscribed with the words, "For bravery behind enemy lines." Intrigued, Kick inquires about his grandfather's past which leads to a wartime flashback. In the flashback, Kick assumes the role of his young grandpa who must take down an enemy dictator. And of course no mission is complete without Gen. Rock Callahan, Kick's idol, voiced by NBA star Dwight Howard.
