Gilles Marini has been cast on Switched at Birth, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. He'll join the ABC Family series as Bay's birth father, Angelo.
Switched at Birth follows Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc), teenagers from different walks of life who have learned they're living with the wrong family. Bay, who comes from a privileged background, is really the daughter of single mother Regina (Constance Marie) while Daphne, who is hearing-impaired, is actually the child of Kathryn (Lea Thompson) and John (D.W. Moffett).

We've got the first-look photo of the series, which tells the story of two girls who discover they accidentally ended up with the wrong family as newborns. Bay Kennish, played by Vanessa Marano, grew up in a wealthy well-rounded family. Daphne Vasquez, played by Katie Leclerc, lost her hearing at an early age and grew up in a working-class neighborhood with her single mother. After learning of the mistake, the two very different families must learn to live together for the sake of their girls. Constance Marie, D. W. Moffett, Lea Thompson and Lucas Grabeel also star.

ABC Family announced an ambitious summer slate Monday that includes a series about being switched at birth, Raven-Symoné's headlining comedy and the return of Pretty Little Liars.
Leading off on Monday, June 6 at 9/8c is Switched at Birth. The one-hour drama follows two teens, Daphne and Bay, from different backgrounds who learn they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. The families eventually meet and must learn how to live together. Newcomer Katie Leclerc plays Daphne and Vanessa Marano (Gilmore Girls) is Bay. Lea Thompson (Back to the Future), Constance Marie (George Lopez), D.W. Moffett (Friday Night Lights) and High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel co-star.

ABC Family picked up three new series Monday, including a comedy starring longtime Disney star Raven-Symoné.
The Great State of Georgia is a half-hour comedy centered on an aspiring actress with a big personality named Georgia (Symoné), trying to make headway in New York with her science geek best friend. Roswell's Majandra Delfino will also star. The show is executive-produced by Kirk J. Rudell (Will & Grace) and best-selling author Jennifer Weiner (Good in Bed, In Her Shoes).

The Closer is ruthlessly apolitical. The writers have opinions on national affairs, of course, but we don't think our little show is a place to air them.
