Sopranos alumna Drea de Matteo is joining Desperate Housewives this season, and she's bringing a small mob of her own with her — in the form of a husband and a son.
De Matteo has been cast in a series regular role, an ABC rep confirms, ostensibly offsetting the loss of Nicollette Sheridan's Edie, who perished toward the end of Season 5. De Matteo's Bronx-bred Wisteria Lane newcomer arrives in town with a husband and 19-year-old son in tow.

Cheers to Sons of Anarchy for revving up its female roles. You wouldn't expect a show about an biker gang to be a good vehicle for actresses, but FX's new drama features three strong women: a seriously deglamorized, post-Sopranos Drea De Matteo as a pregnant meth-head; Maggie Siff (so good as Don Draper's businesswoman lover on Mad Men) as a doctor who can't put her biker-chick past behind her; and Katey Sagal (creator Kurt Sutter's real-life wife), who shines as the Sons' Machiavellian matriarch. Peg Bundy would be so proud. Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board. We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine!
