I have to wonder if the psych hospital in the House finale was also a hallucination.  It was pretty strange how the street and parking lots were empty.  And it looked like he was going to one of those hospitals from the 1940s. — RSmith
MATT: How Vanilla Sky! But nope, sources assure me that House's rehab stint is the real deal. And that hospital's more retro than you think. Greystone Park State Hospital (in Morristown, N.J.) made its debut in 1876 as the not-so-subtly named New Jersey State Lunatic Asylum. The hospital has tended to such patients as singer-songwriter Woody Guthrie, and until the Pentagon was built, it boasted the largest foundation (674,000 sq. feet) of any structure in the U.S. I'd try to book a TVGuide.com Q&A with the building, but fear I'd be stonewalled.

Dr. Drew Diagnoses the Harsh Reality of Reality TV

In August 2005, a dream came true for Paula Goodspeed. Having made it to the third round of American Idol's Season 5 auditions, she stood across a table from Paula Abdul, of whom she was a longtime fan. Minutes later, Goodspeed was subject to the frank sort of criticism the Idol panel is known to dish out. (Randy Jackson, for one, summed up her skills as "terrible.") Three years later, Goodspeed would take her own life outside Abdul's Los Angeles home.

The Goodspeed tragedy has prompted many to ask anew: Do the demands of reality television make it difficult for some people to face their "moment like this," or the dark moments that can follow?

Psychological screening processes often are involved at the early stages, yet ... read more

Celebs' Rehab: Taking Shortcuts? Dr. Drew Opines

"News" alert? Dr. Drew Pinksy — the mind behind VH-1's Celebrity Rehab — insists that Hollywood has a big addiction problem, and it's sweeping it under the red carpet. The doc will be laying out his Hollywood addiction views Tuesday in VH1 News Presents: Dr. Drew's Celebrity Addiction Special."If you had cancer, you would drop everything," he said.
