Does your mom need some televised honoring? Do you know one who does? Donny and Marie Osmond will be taking the stage to help celebrate them as cohosts of America's Favorite Mom, a Mother's Day special. While Donny Osmond joked to the AP that he initially thought viewers would need "an insulin shot" to keep them interested if he and his sis were at the helm, he changed his mind when he heard the details: The show will honor moms who viewers nominate and vote on in nontraditional categories. Honors will go to moms who are single, working, stay-at-home, unconventional or in the military. The 15 semifinalists will all be featured on the Today show during the week leading up to Mother's Day, and winning moms will receive a cash prize, as well as the televised honors. The Osmond duo will of course sing a duet during the show — but they won't reveal the song choice until the show airs (Sunday, May 11, on NBC). Nominations, meanwhile, will be accepted through April 25. — Anna Dim... read more

Marie Osmond "Grateful" That Larry King Blindsided Her

Though at the time his sister was obviously caught off guard by Larry King's knowledge of the situation and related line of questioning (watch the video here), Donny Osmond now says the CNN talk host did Marie a favor by bringing up her 16-year-old son's enrollment in rehab. "I have to back up and apologize publicly to Larry King," Donny said Monday on Today, referring to some harsh words he lobbed at King in the immediate aftermath of the emotional sit-down. "In hindsight, [he] did Marie a favor. She was able to make a statement about the situation [before the tabloids grabbed hold of the story]. And so she's grateful to Larry." read more

Music Video Musings from the Treadmill

Buttonz? Yodeling? Paul Wall? If I am at all current on the music kids are listening to these days — and my niece Phoenix will be the first to say I am not — it's only because my weekend routine finds me watching VH1 videos while doing cardio (and reading the latest periodicals, because I'm such the multi-tasker) at the local health club. Herewith are my thoughts on some of today's heavily-played "tracks," in no particular order other than how they pop into my mind:"About Us," Brooke Hogan (with the aforementioned Paul Wall)So, this is Hulk's daughter, eh? I read something somewhere about how she whipped herself into shape for this, partly via mad amounts of jump-roping, hence (I can only assume) the activity's inclusion in the vid. Mr. Wall's orthodontic issues aside, it's a catchy tune, though I must opine that Brooke and her posse get served in the video's dance-off at the end. I mean, did you see that one chick's crazy leg moves? It's like she has no femur."My Love," J... read more
