Showtime's upcoming series House of Lies is debuting next month, but we've got the first episode now!

The dark comedy stars Don Cheadle as Marty Kaan, a management consultant who will stop at nothing to get business deals done. Kaan's team, called "The Pod," consists of Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy League grad (Kristen Bell); Clyde Oberhalt, a brown-nosing and womanizing consultant (Ben Schwartz); and Doug Guggenheim, a brilliant math geek (Josh Lawson). Dawn Olivieri rounds out the cast as Marty's pill-popping ex-wife and mother of his child. She's also his company's biggest rival.

Showtime Sets House of Lies Premiere, Dexter Crosses With Dan Brown

Showtime's raunchy comedy House of Lies will premiere on Sunday, Jan. 8, between the returns of Shameless and Californication, Showtime's president of entertainment announced to TV critics during fall previews Thursday.

"We're not an advertiser environment, so we have the ability to push the limits," David Nevins said. "Beneath [the show]'s glossy, fancy prettiness is a really subversive show. It's an R-rated comedy that's really addictive in a way that no one else can get away with."

Griffin Dunne, who will appear on the upcoming season of Damages, has joined Showtime's upcoming House of Lies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on Martin Kihn's tell-all House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, the dark comedy stars Don Cheadle as Marty, a cutthroat consultant who uses any means necessary to procure information for his clients. Dunne will play a renowned consultant who teams up with Marty's firm.

Showtime Orders up Homeland and House of Lies

House of Lies

Showtime is adding two more original series to its lineup.

The cable channel announced Thursday it had ordered a 12-episode season of the drama Homeland, starring Claire Danes, and the comedy House of Lies, starring Don Cheadle. Both series will begin production in the summer.

Showtime Renews Californication; Sets Returns for Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara

On the heels of its most-watched series premiere, Californication has been picked up for a fifth season. 

The Season 4 debut of the David Duchovny comedy drew 1.2 million viewers between its two airings Sunday.

Showtime also announced Friday that Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara will return on Monday, March 28. The Borgias, an upcoming period drama starring Jeremy Irons, will debut with a two-hour premiere on April 3 at 9/8c.
