And then there were four!
Two more contestants were eliminated from The X Factor Thursday night, with four making it through to next week's semifinals. Did Tate Nation give Tate Stevens the votes he needed to reclaim the top spot from Carly Rose Sonenclar? Did CeCe Frey survive another week? And which acts had to go head-to-head to stay in the competition? Read on to find out.
Viewers got a double dose on The X Factor Wednesday night, with each of the remaining six acts performing two songs — the first an unplugged number, and the second a song chosen by viewers — as they attempt to move into next week's semifinals. For the audience-chosen performances (a.k.a. the "Pepsi Challenge" — yay sponsorship!), viewers weighed in not only on the song choice, but also on everything from the act's wardrobe to the stage lighting. Suffice it to say, we hope the show goes back to having the judges make these decisions next week.
So, which two contestants should be sent home on Thursday's show? Here's a breakdown of their performances:
Alicia Keys is on fire! Britney rocks a fedora! And two more acts go home on Thursday's The X Factor. How does it all play out? Let's take a look:
The Top 8 finalists on The X Factor tackled chart-topping songs Wednesday, knowing that Thursday they'll face another double elimination on Fox's singing show. With only a fraction of a percent separating the Top 4 contestants after last week's show, the competition is getting fierce.
Also getting fierce? The banter between judges Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato, with Lovato not responding well to Cowell's criticisms of her contestants, and chiding him about everything from his age to his bachelor status. Cowell responded by telling the 20-year-old that he had sold more than 300 million records in his career. (Snap!)
The X Factor
Another week of The X Factor, another chance to hate on CeCe Frey.
The 21-year-old postal room worker has inspired more loathing than judge Simon Cowell this season, falling to the bottom of the Rankings of Shame twice ever since viewers started voting. During last week's results, when she was saved from elimination by the judges again, Cowell acknowledged that even they have given her a "hard time" on the show. If the judges can't back her, why should America?
Carly Rose Sonenclar
Thanksgiving wasn't all about the turkey and stuffing for the 10 X Factor finalists, two of whom were sent home Thursday night. Keep reading to find out who got cut — and whether Tate Stevens finished in first place for the third week in a row.
The X Factor pulled out all the stops as far as sappiness goes Wednesday evening, with each of the Top 10 finalists performing a song dedicated to someone they're thankful for. Awww. (Hey, you know what they probably aren't grateful about? Having to spend Thanksgiving evening on the X Factor stage tomorrow, when two additional contestants will get the boot.)
Most of the contestants chose to honor someone in their family, and in keeping with that theme, Kim Kardashian and her beau Kanye West were in the audience to support co-host Khloe Kardashian (who, as an aside, has done nothing to curb her nauseating flirting with Simon Cowell — something we're definitely not thankful for).
Anyway, to the singing! Here's a breakdown of Wednesday's performances.
