David Archuleta Still Waiting for First Kiss

David Archuleta by Steve Granitz/WireImage.com

OK, girls, Seventeen magazine asked American Idol runner-up David Archuleta the eternal question: when was your first kiss? "I haven't had a first kiss," he replied. Archie, 17, has let it be known before he feels he's not old enough to understand all the feelings that go along with a relationship. Any girls' fashion trends that confuse him? "I don't get those really short skirts," he told Seventeen. He doesn't have a celebrity crush, either ("I’ve always been against that because it's like you don’t even know who they are"), but lists Sara Bareilles as a celebrity he looks up to. Her song "Many the Miles" is the last tune he listened to on his iPod.In between sessions working on his new album, he plops on the couch to catch a few TV guilty pleasures. "I like cartoons," he said. "I like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends [and] The Fairly OddParents."Most ironic of all? David A., who was introduced on the Idol finale as "weighing around 100 pounds, soaking wet", told the m... read more

David Cook: Idol Tour Won't Detour Love Life

David Cook by Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.com; Kimberly Caldwell by Michael Bezjian/WireImage.com

If you do the math on the American Idol Live! tour, it looks something like this: 53 performances in 49 cities over 72 days adds up to no love life. But as David Cook gets ready to board the bus, he's not worried about the damper it may put on his relationship with former American Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell. "I get to do what I love and love what I do, so no, it doesn't put a damper on anything," he told TV Guide between rehearsals and wardrobe fittings. "Kim's great," Cook continued. "She's got a little bit of insight on it which definitely helps."The two met as Caldwell interviewed Cook on the TV Guide Network before his final performance on Idol, and if there's anyone familiar with the Fox series' freight train and understanding of its demands, it's the Season 2 songstress. "We seem to compliment each other really well," says Cook. "She's very supportive, and not only with me but with my entire family, which is huge. She's great." Looks like Idol plus Idol equals a perfect... read more

Obama and David C. to Step onto Kimmel's Court

Barack Obama by GV Cruz/WireImage.com; David Cook by Mark Von Holden/WireImage.com

Barack Obama and David Cook may occupy separate professional arenas, but they both know all about the American voting public. Sunday, June 15, they might get to compare notes when they each join Jimmy Kimmel for Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night on ABC. The presumptive Democratic nominee will be joining the talk show host via satellite, and is expected to discuss the NBA finals (go Boston!), Father's Day and, of course, a little campaign politics. Cook, meanwhile, may not be talking fatherhood or campaigns, but fingers crossed we might just get some music out of him. Will you tune in early to see Obama and David C.? VIDEO: David Cook Sings National Anthem at NBA Playoffs

He had the courage to face Simon for all those months, but what was it like for Idol winner David Cook when he sang the national anthem at last night's NBA Playoff Game? "The nerves are way worse [than on Idol]. It’s the one song you don’t want to mess up. I’m going to try not to notice Jack Nicholson sitting in the front row and think about the lyrics,” Cook told reporters before belting out the "Star Spangled Banner" at the beginning of the game. Could have fooled us – there's not a hint of nerves in that voice! — Gina DiNunno Related: • Video Q&As: Get Your Archie Fix!• Video Q&As: David Cook, David Cook and David Cook!• What's Next for Syesha Mercado read more

David Cook to Slam Dunk NBA Finals Performance

David Cook by Jemal Countess/WireImage.com

David Cook's not only slam-dunked a win as this year's Idol, but now he's bouncing his way to the Staples Center parquet to perform at Game 3 of the NBA finals. The June 10 performance will be Cook's first at a major sporting event (but probably not his last). Cook's upcoming game-night appearance upholds an ongoing NBA-Idol tradition in which each year's new AI winner takes the mic during the NBA finals in June. In previous years, Cook's predecessors Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, and Jordin Sparks have all performed during the basketball face-off. Here's hoping that Cook's recent victory will bode well for Boston following his arena serenade. — Anna DimondCheck out more video and more of David and American Idol. read more

Get Ready to Rock: David Cook Signs Record Deal

David Cook by Frank Micelotta/Fox

Less than a week after being crowned the Season 7 American Idol winner, David Cook's got a record deal. Cook has, not surprisingly, signed with the Idol production house's adjunct, 19 Recordings/RCA label, says E! Online.Taking advantage of his momentum, Cook will start to lay down tracks in between the Idol summer tour dates, to prep for a fall release. It may sound impossible to some (some = me), but this is well-trodden territory for his new label home, whose shared RCA roster includes other former Idol contestants. In a statement, Cook said, "Signing this deal is truly a dream come true" — which may also be said for his fans. Will you be waiting to purchase his work, which he promised will "make the hair on the back of your neck stand up"? — Anna DimondCheck out videos and more of American Idol.More Cook Mania:• VIDEO: David Cook Talks Dating With Regis• David Cooking Up a CD to "Make the Hair on the Back of Your Neck Stand Up" read more

In the days leading up to the Idol finale, David Cook reportedly stepped out from the rehearsals and interviews for a more important appointment: he visited former Idol hopeful Luke Menard in the hospital. Menard was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Cook told People.com, "I love Luke and I just wanted to show up and make sure that he understood that I love him and know that if there’s anything I can do for him and his wife, sign me up, you know?" During Hollywood week, Cook said he, Menard, Michael Johns and Jason Yeager bonded and called themselves "the four horsemen." He explained, "Any time one of your own is going through something as horrible as that, it makes everything else seem a little bit insignificant." "I'm excited to be put in [the spotlight] where I can hopefully do something to help other people," Cook said. His older brother, Adam, has also been battling cancer. In the aftermath of his big public achievement, it seems that Cook's persona as a caring g... read more
