I think I love this: Shirley Jones will guest-star on ABC Family's Ruby & the Rockits, playing mother to David and Patrick Cassidy, her real-life stepson and son, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Shaun Cassidy, another of the actress' sons with the late actor Jack Cassidy, executive-produces the new comedy. He joked that Jones got the role the old-fashioned way.
"She slept with the producer," he tells TVGuide.com. "Although in her defense, I was two years old at the time and afraid of the dark."

As one in a flurry of scheduling decisions, ABC Family has decided to cut the cord on Kyle XY after this, its recently premiered third season.
The news is better for Greek and Lincoln Heights, which were picked up for third and fourth seasons, respectively, says the Hollywood Reporter. Greek resumes its sophomore run on March 30.

It's really really hard for me to even fake the slightest bit of interest in High School Musical 2 and its unprecedented success. As TV Guide Channel's Nikki Boyer put it so succinctly the other night on Watch This!, if the record-breaking numbers prove anything, it's simply that kids love crap. But like a lot of people, I was struck by the recent cover of Rolling Stone and the magazine's positioning of HSM2's squeaky-clean "hunk" Zac Efron as "America's Latest Heart Throb."
