MDA Labor Day Telethon Raises $61.5 Million Sans Jerry Lewis

Despite the absence of longtime host Jerry Lewis, the 2011 Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon raised $61.5 million, up approximately $2.6 million from last year, The Associated Press reports.

Lewis was on the minds of many at the telethon, including co-host Nigel Lythgoe, who said he was sad the comedian didn't participate in the telethon. Lythgoe told the AP he had expected Lewis to... read more

Is Dave Chappelle Eyeing a Return to Television?

Then a young woman's quitting via dry erase board made the online rounds, though she turned out to be an actress named Elyse Porterfield (whose name also sounds too good to be true). In honor of these disgruntled employees, real and fake, we salute eight of TV's greatest quitters — real, fake, and both.

Cheers & Jeers: Reggie Watts Up!

Cheers to Reggie Watts for lighting up the small screen.

The incandescent comic/musician — who's like the love child of Zach Galifianakis and Jack Black, plus a giant Afro — tore down houses as the opening act for Conan O'Brien's just-concluded "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour." He made his network debut on O'Brien successor Jimmy Fallon's Late Night and performed one of his breakout tunes, "Big-Ass Purse," in TBS' recent special Team Coco Presents: Conan's Writers. Too bad ... read more
