ER Laura Innes sure does a fine job directing, as she did tonight, but I sure do wish she'd get back on screen. OK, enough whining. Glad they had Neela say goodbye to Ray as a roommate, especially since her in-laws came to town. What bad timing on Ray's part: Now was not the time to be thinking of getting it on with his roomie. 'Twas very classy of him to say to her "You're the best friend I ever had" right before she drove away in the cab. Great scene between Parminder Nagra and guest star Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha's step-mama needs to do more TV dramas) — the last thing Neela thought she'd hear from her mother-in-law is that she was separating from her husband. I loved that she told read more

ER How nice to finally see the...

ERHow nice to finally see the episode that was supposed to be on last Thursday. Was it worth the wait? Yes, and I'll, of course, tell you why. Laura Innes as Kerry Weaver has been one of my favorite actresses and characters ever since she began on this show. Kerry can indeed be a bitch, but we're often able to see her other layers, like tonight with those tender moments of true friendship between Kerry and Abby. But Kerry's appearances have been few and far between the last few seasons, so I was really gearing up for this episode. I was so glad she finally decided to go ahead with the hip-replacement surgery, especially after she said, "I'm a disabled person. What else would I have left?" What an effective way to end the hour by having her count down from 100 after receivi read more

ER I was really looking forward...

ERI was really looking forward to the episode originally scheduled for tonight — a new Kerry-centric one — because there hasn't been an episode that focuses on Kerry Weaver in ages. But, alas, no. NBC got cold feet and decided to substitute with all reruns tonight since Fox aired the final Thursday Idol and the return of The O.C. Remember the days when NBC owned Thursdays instead of CBS, Fox and ABC? Tonight's entire NBC lineup was postponed until next week. At least it was a good repeat — Kristen Johnston's first appearance as County General's new nurse manager/beeyotch Eve. I recall having mixed feelings about her at first, but the way they wrote Eve was such that the hateful parts of her character way outweighed the likable parts. So I was glad read more

ER I don't know about you, but...

ER I don't know about you, but I really wish one of these rare "special appearances" by Noah Wyle would involve Carter actually showing up at County General rather than just these far-away places. I'd be satisfied with even one Chicago visit, like the recent episode where Sharif Atkins briefly appeared in town. Well, I guess a Sudanese desert-based Carter is better than no Carter at all, eh? I did enjoy seeing him do scenes with Mary McCormack and Eamonn Walker. How horrible for that Lwendo guy to abandon his wife after he found out she was raped. Speaking of Eamonn, I love seeing yet another former Oz cast member get work. I keep waiting for Harold Perrineau and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to walk by each other on Lost and do a "Wher read more

Grey's Anatomy Poor George. As...

Grey's Anatomy Poor George. As many expected, sleeping with Meredith ended up not being the experience George was hoping for. I was really glad they waited until the end to show that scene of the two of them in bed together, treating it like a flashback in George's mind rather than opening the episode with it. Hopefully he'll get over the devastation, and moving out will certainly help matters. I'm loving Sara Ramirez as Dr. Callie Torres — she'll for sure help George get his mind off Meredith. I was very excited to read that Sara was joining the show as a recurring character — she won a Tony award for her performance in Monty Python's Spamalot. Speaking of George, he narrated both the opening and closing of the show instead of  read more
