Who will Amy end up with on the Secret Life series finale -- Ricky or Ben?
In July 2008, ABC Family debuted the show, created by 7th Heaven's Brenda Hampton, to record ratings for the network. The high school soap stars newcomer Shailene Woodley as Amy Juergens, a shy incoming freshman who learns she's pregnant after losing her virginity to popular Ricky Underwood (Daren Kagasoff) at band camp before starting to date boy-next-door Ben (Ken Baumann). By the end of the season, both Ricky and Ben know the truth, remain supportive, but are fighting for Amy's affections.
Get ready to say goodbye to Amy, Ricky, Ben and the gang! The final season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager will premiere on Monday, March 18 at 8/7c on ABC Family, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Returning winter shows: Where we left off
On the season premiere, Amy (Shailene Woodley) and Ricky (Daren Kagasoff) continue to plan their wedding, but it seems that Amy's dress choice — a thrift store find — isn't sitting well with her friends and her fiancé. But the more important issue is: Does Amy really want to get married?
Amy and Ricky are in for a surprise when they celebrate their first Christmas together as a family on Monday's special episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
When Ricky (Daren Kagasoff) tells his wife (Shailene Woodley) and son about how he and his fellow foster kids would sneak into a toy shop on Christmas Eve, the three decide to carry on the tradition. Once inside, Ethan (Michael Grant), dressed as Santa, and a very pregnant Kathy (Cierra Ramirez) decide to join the fun. But they're all taken by surprise when Kathy suddenly goes into labor.
Secret Life's Shailene Woodley on 100 Episodes: "It's crazy to wrap your head around"
When Shailene Woodley was cast in ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager, little did she know she's spend a quarter of her life filming the series.
"When I signed on, I didn't think about award shows, magazines, the amount of episodes, but to get this far and accomplish 100, it's crazy to wrap your head around," Woodley tells TVGuide.com. "The most exciting thing about it is that all of us have seen each other grow and have a lot of first experiences on the show. It's really special to have those kinds of people in your life."
Will The Secret Life of the American Teenager's Ricky and Amy ever walk down the aisle? Star Shailene Woodley says viewers will learn that answer on Monday's episode.
"Amy and Ricky finally make a decision and are finally going to act upon that decision," Woodley tells TVGuide.com. "It's [the moment] everyone has been waiting for."
