Change is good for American Idol, according to Danny Gokey. While many fans are dreading Simon Cowell's impending exit, the Season 8 third-place finisher tells TVGuide.com that playing musical judging chairs is necessary for the aging Fox juggernaut. "I think in order for Idol to stay alive, they need to reinvent the wheel," he says. "He is irreplaceable, and when you bring someone new on, you don't want them to copycat exactly what Simon did. But you should let their qualities take over and start fresh." Gokey, who will release his debut album, My Best Days, on March 2, already has some people in mind to take Cowell's seat. Find out who he'd nominate for the judges' table, how he hopes to give back through his organization, Sophia's Heart Foundation, and more.

Will Danny Gokey go from American Idol to Dancing with the Stars?
That has been the talk ever since the third-place finisher was asked about using the ABC reality competition to improve upon his footwork, which was at times dissed by Simon Cowell.

To hear American Idol castoff Danny Gokey tell it, Terence Trent D'Arby may have simply finished what Aerosmith started.
Though Gokey's take on D'Arby's "Dance Little Sister" drew him so-so reviews this past Tuesday night, the 28-year-old widower suspects it was his big finish to "Dream On" the week prior that laid the foundation for his eventual ouster.
"I was thinking about that this morning. Maybe that [scream] was kind of like the downfall," Gokey told TVGuide.com the day after his Idol dismissal. "It could have been one of the variables."
Gokey stands by the Aerosmith selection, explaining, "I really wanted to have a big song, and I never [sang] rock." He also goes on to say that "everything in the performance was good ...

American Idol's Top 4

Or could either of the next two rounds of Idol votes deliver an actual surprise and leave Adam merely watching the finale from the cheap seats?
