The Screen Actors Guild will send strike authorization ballots to more than 100,000 members of the union on Jan. 2, but the dismal economic climate and the pleas of several prominent actors not to strike could make the vote close.
Votes will be tabulated by Jan. 23, and could lead to a strike that would affect all shows covered by SAG — mostly expensive, filmed series like Lost. Taped shows, such as Gary Unmarried, Rules of Engagement, and 90210 are covered by another union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
That union, which also includes 44,000 people who also belong to SAG, has already accepted a contract similar to the one studios are offering SAG.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia may sound like a pleasant enough show, but there's nothing saccharine about FX's cult-hit comedy. Following the deplorable behavior and self-absorbed shenanigans of a group of friends who operate a South Philly dive called Paddy's Pub, the series enters its third season on Thursday, Sept. 13 (10 pm/ET, FX), and the DVDs for Seasons 1 and 2 arrive in stores today. When The View launches its 11th season on Tuesday, Sept. 4 — with "special" guest Danny DeVito on hand — new cohost Whoopi Goldberg won't represent the only splash of... something different on the show. An ABC press release says that the talker's set "has been freshened this year with warm hues of yellow — both paint and fabric." Limoncello yellow, perhaps? This was not made clear.What's more, gone is that cold, icy and apparently acrylic "Hot Topics" table, now replaced with a wooden dais simular to its pre-Rosie predecessor.

Eight months after his allegedly drunken appearance on The View, Danny DeVito has decided to launch his own line of limoncello, the potent Italian lemon liquor he told Barbara Walters he shared with pal George Clooney prior to his controversial interview. “After that, all of my friends would send me cases of limoncello,” says DeVito with a laugh. “Wherever I went, people would say, ‘Hey Danny, you want a limoncello?’”His answer? “You bet!”Now the Italian-American actor, who stars in the half-hour comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is having the last laugh, thanks to the release of Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello. Shortly after appearing on Wednesday's The View admittedly sloshed, Danny DeVito offered an olive branch to queen bee Barbara Walters, "to apologize for anything that could be construed as unfortunate," his publicist tells ABC News. DeVito's appearance on the talker followed an all-nighter of partying and downing limoncello with pal George Clooney, and was peppered with such colorful anecdotes as the time he and wife Rhea Perlman set the White House's Lincoln bedroom a-rocking.
