New Rift Opens in SAG over Strike Vote

90210, Lost

Leaders of the Screen Actors Guild plan to hold an emergency meeting after the union's New York board came out against holding a strike authorization vote. read more

SAG to Vote on Strike, But it Looks Close

The Screen Actors Guild will send strike authorization ballots to more than 100,000 members of the union on Jan. 2, but the dismal economic climate and the pleas of several prominent actors not to strike could make the vote close. Votes will be tabulated by Jan. 23, and could lead to a strike that would affect all shows covered by SAG — mostly expensive, filmed series like Lost. Taped shows, such as Gary Unmarried, Rules of Engagement, and 90210 are covered by another union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. That union, which also includes 44,000 people who also belong to SAG, has already accepted a contract similar to the one studios are offering SAG. read more

Oscars Preview: Inside This Year's Governor's Ball

Governor's Ball preview by Mike Guastella/WireImage.com

With the Academy Awards celebrating its 80th year this Sunday, Feb. 24, it seems only fitting that the Governor’s Ball roll out the red carpet in grand fashion. Thus the occasion’s chosen color scheme: red-carpet red and the gold of an Oscar statuette. Inside the doors of Hollywood & Highland Center’s Grand Ballroom, the scene will be one of elegance and contemporary glamour with a multilevel layout featuring nine different sections, all with their own flair. Red roses with sprays of yellow gemstar will adorn the tables along with Kartell lamps. Whimsical glass bubbles set off by firefly lights will float from the ceiling. Taking the stage will be the 12-member orchestra Pink Martini. Further entertainment comes by way of music stylist and radio host Jason Bentley.Beyond celebrity attendees like George Clooney and Julia Roberts, the main attraction of the annual event is always cuisine created by the world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck. The Philadelphia Story

OK, again, digging ya’ll who checked in last week. The fun we had, huh? And what better way to recover from the lost joys of The Land of the Lost than with some love for the City of Brotherly Love. As bhm1304 guessed last week, the best FX sitcom you’re not watching is…It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.Granted, while it’s not really always sunny here, as a right proud Philly boy who just spent Labor Day wandering Center City, reading in Rittenhouse Square and chowing down on The Continental’s insane crab Pad Thai, I have to say that this town does indeed rock.Much like this dirty little gem. Centered on foul-mouthed pub owners Mac, Charlie and Dennis, his barmaid sister Sweet Dee and a still unnamed coffee-shop waitress who could teach Friends Gunther a thing or two about stealing scenes, Sunny is best compared to Seinfeld…if Jerry’s posse had less morals and raging drinking problems. Once Danny DeVito joins in for season 2 as Dee and Dennis&#... read more

Sunny's Rob McElhenney on Trannies and Danny DeVito

Rob McElhenney, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia may sound like a pleasant enough show, but there's nothing saccharine about FX's cult-hit comedy. Following the deplorable behavior and self-absorbed shenanigans of a group of friends who operate a South Philly dive called Paddy's Pub, the series enters its third season on Thursday, Sept. 13 (10 pm/ET, FX), and the DVDs for Seasons 1 and 2 arrive in stores today. Creator, producer and star Rob McElhenney recently spoke with TVGuide.com about the new season and provided some insight on attractive transsexuals, the City of Brotherly Love and whether he plans to get loaded with costar Danny DeVito before their upcoming appearance on The View. Whoopi's View Will Be Mellow Yellow

Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters by Steve Fenn/ABC

When The View launches its 11th season on Tuesday, Sept. 4 — with "special" guest Danny DeVito on hand — new cohost Whoopi Goldberg won't represent the only splash of... something different on the show. An ABC press release says that the talker's set "has been freshened this year with warm hues of yellow — both paint and fabric." Limoncello yellow, perhaps? This was not made clear. What's more, gone is that cold, icy and apparently acrylic "Hot Topics" table, now replaced with a wooden dais simular to its pre-Rosie predecessor. read more

Danny DeVito Making "Lemonade"

Danny Devito by Robert Zuckerman/FX

Eight months after his allegedly drunken appearance on The View, Danny DeVito has decided to launch his own line of limoncello, the potent Italian lemon liquor he told Barbara Walters he shared with pal George Clooney prior to his controversial interview. “After that, all of my friends would send me cases of limoncello,” says DeVito with a laugh. “Wherever I went, people would say, ‘Hey Danny, you want a limoncello?’”His answer? “You bet!”Now the Italian-American actor, who stars in the half-hour comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is having the last laugh, thanks to the release of Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello. The alcoholic drink will be available at liquor stores nationwide for $23.99 in mid-August.Jokes DeVito, “I had a lemonade stand when I was a little kid in New Jersey and I never thought it would come this far.” — Reporting by Dana Meltzer Zepeda read more

DeVito Sorry for Well-lubricated View Visit

Shortly after appearing on Wednesday's The View admittedly sloshed, Danny DeVito offered an olive branch to queen bee Barbara Walters, "to apologize for anything that could be construed as unfortunate," his publicist tells ABC News. DeVito's appearance on the talker followed an all-nighter of partying and downing limoncello with pal George Clooney, and was peppered with such colorful anecdotes as the time he and wife Rhea Perlman set the White House's Lincoln bedroom a-rocking. read more
