Survivor's Shane Smoked by Betrayal

Every reality show has a contestant fans love to hate, and for CBS' Survivor: Panama — Exile Island (tonight at 8 pm/ET), Shane Powers willingly accepts the title. As he provided a wealth of comic relief for castaways and viewers alike, the Los Angelino took Survivor fans on an emotional roller coaster as he struggled with a severe nicotine addiction and dealt with the anxiety of being away from his son. TVGuide.com sat down with Shane the day after his elimination to chat about the shocking betrayal by his "allies," the fate of his acid-wash denim shorts, and his voting strategy going into Sunday's season finale.

TVGuide.com: What's the reaction been like since your elimination episode aired?
Shane Powers:
It's been positive. The [reaction] I cared most about was my son's, and read more

As I mourn the fact that ...

Question: As I mourn the fact that Gilmore Girls will never be the same again due to Amy Sherman-Palladino's departure, I find myself wondering how many shows left on the air are run by women. The only shows I can think of off the top of my head are Grey's Anatomy, 7th Heaven (which is almost gone) and Everwood. Are there any others? It's a shame that Gilmore Girls is losing one of the few amazingly creative women out there who are given the opportunity to be a creative force in the business. Hopefully, she will be behind another amazing show soon. One thing is for sure, Gilmore Girls won't be the same without her. Answer: You may be right, but to cut off the Amy-bashers before they chime in again, given the shaky quality of this most recent season, maybe some fresh blood will help get things back on track for what I can only hope will be its final season on CW. As for female creators, the list also includes Cold Case's Meredith Stiehm, New Adventures of Old Christine's Kari Lizer, read more

There's still no news. And if...

There's still no news. And if you don't know what "news" I'm referring to, you either aren't a Gilmore Girls fan or you skipped over the first question of this week's Ask Ausiello. (And right about now, you're probably going, "Enough with all this Gilmore crap!") But for everyone else, you know very well I'm talking about the nail-biter of a cliff-hanger over whether or not series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her right-hand man, husband Dan, will abandon their 6-year-old baby just as it's heading into what may be its final season — and its first on its new network, CW. Although there's nothing official to report — see "There's still no news" above — the rumors are spreading faster than hummus on a toasted whole wheat bagel. Austin Powerless to Elude Survivor Exit

He played the game with true honesty and integrity, but North Carolinian author Austin Carty found his Survivor: Panama — Exile Island (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET on CBS) tribe mates eager to turn the page after his island stay reached the three week mark. TVGuide.com chatted with Austin — who earned the first seat on this season's jury — the day after his snuffing to find out how he managed to survive Exile Island, his voting strategy for the finale and his reality-star crush. TVGuide.com: What has been the reaction at home to your elimination?Austin Carty: Everyone's incredibly disappointed. The way things started out, people thought I had a chance to win. I thought so, too. TVGuide.com: You recently admitted to throwing a challenge by not performing to your true ability, in order read more
