Dan Brown Fast Facts:

Grew up on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy, where his father taught mathematics.
Sang with the glee club at Amherst College.
Turned to writing after his career as a singer-songwriter in Los Angeles, where he self-produced four pop albums, failed to take off.
Wrote a 1995 advice book titled 187 Men to Avoid: A Guide for the Romantically Frustrated Woman under the pseudonym Danielle Brown.
Released his first novel, the techno-thriller Digital Fortress, in 1998.
Can be seen in the audience of an Aerosmith concert in 2005 comedy Be Cool.
Named to TIME magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in 2005.
His Da Vinci Code sequel The Lost Symbol sold more than 1 million copies in hardcover and e-book versions during its first day of release in 2009.
