A network cameraman assigned to cover antiwar protests during the 2004 Republican National Convention turns the tables on his opportunistic producer.
A no-holds-barred look at the news media, this timely, hard-hitting film tells the story of a photojournalist caught between success and ethics. The beautiful Rosario Dawson plays a political radical who's allegiance to her cause is tested when chaos turns to violence in this superbly acted, emotionally charged thriller.
Jake Cassevetes, a well-paid stringer for the networks, does not buy into the conspiracy theory of a corporate-controlled press. After discovering much of his best footage in Iraq was censored by the network, Jake is growing disillusioned. When he gets an assignment to shoot on the streets of the Republican National Convention protests, he meets Seven, one of the young leaders of the masked anarchist Black Bloc. Jake wins the trust of the group and is allowed to shadow them. After shooting Seven describing the Bloc's objectives, the videotape is mistakenly returned to the network. When he tries to retrieve the tape, he is told the network made a deal with Homeland Security to review all footage. Jake decides to use his skills and access at the network to jam the government-controlled corporate media and broadcast the truth.
