Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo
The countdown to the NCIS season finale begins now.
Now that Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Vance (Rocky Carroll) have given Ziva (Cote de Pablo) permission to pursue her rogue investigation of Ilan Bodner, all of her actions — beginning with a Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva trip to Berlin on Tuesday's episode (8/7c, CBS) —will feed into the season's ultimate conclusion.

"From this point on, all of these episodes connect and they all propel us toward the finale," executive producer Gary Glasberg tells TVGuide.com. "'Berlin' functions as both a significant part of the Bodner story and has a tremendous Tony/Ziva personal story line that goes along with it. It's primarily work-related, but there are little moments that give them an opportunity to connect and hopefully satisfy a lot of our Tiva fans."
But before Tony and Ziva kick off their European jaunt/manhunt, Ziva will meet new Mossad Director Orli Elbaz (Star Trek: The Next Generation alum Marina Sirtis), the woman replacing Ziva's murdered father...
NCIS' season finale is going to be pretty tough on Gibbs. Fortunately, he'll have an old friend to help him through it all.

Question: Along with Parenthood, The Good Wife is in my opinion still one of the best dramas on network TV. And the mock trial episode was, as you recently noted, the best so far of the season. However, I have recently been feeling that this show has been lacking, not necessarily in quality (with the exception of the whole Kalinda's husband debacle), but in freshness. For me the show has been very stagnant. A case here, a little Will/Alicia flirtation there, mixed in with Peter's campaign and/or Eli's troubles. Every week is pretty much the same thing with a different guest star. Nothing seems to be new or fresh. What's most frustrating about the lack of freshness is how easily they could remedy that. I would be extremely interested in watching what Cary proposed unfold, for he and Alicia to form their own firm. Watching Cary and Alicia go head to head with Will and Diane would be a welcome change to the same old same old.
Cote de Pablo, NCIS
When NCIS goes for an emotional gut-punch, it always hits hard.
In last week's episode, the veteran CBS drama walloped its audience with not one, but two deaths, as a shooting spree at the home of Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) took the lives of both Ziva's father Eli (Michael Nouri) and Vance's wife Jackie (Paula Newsome).

"I just couldn't help myself," executive producer Gary Glasberg tells TVGuide.com of the body count. "This is a story line that we've actually been thinking about for a long time — all the way back to last spring. I pulled Rocky Carroll aside and told him I was thinking of this scenario, and we really talked it through. We talked about the doors it would open for his character and things that this character would have to face as a single dad and as a widower. It all seemed exciting. It was new material and a new direction for Vance."
Indeed, Tuesday's episode ...

In the behind-the-scenes video below, join NCIS stars Mark Harmon, Cote de Pablo, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Sean Murray, David McCallum and Brian Dietzen on their cover shoot and be sure to get all the scoop here...
"This is all just a setup," says Pauley Perrette, walking into the NCIS writers' room north of Los Angeles. Michael Weatherly fatalistically adds: "This is where we all..." Brian Dietzen finishes the thought: "...meet our end."
Not bloody likely. Sure, the series did off a couple major characters in the first five seasons (RIP, Lauren Holly's Jenny), and some significant recurring characters have met their makers in the five years since (Mike Franks, we hardly knew ye!). But the chances of any of these eight diehards going down anytime before the show ends its run are about the same as the odds of Gibbs cracking a sustained smile.
Speaking of which: When we gathered all eight regular cast members of TV's No. 1 drama for a historic summit, their fearless leader, Mark Harmon, was largely the quiet man out. When his colleagues finally called him on his reticence, he swore he was having too good a time listening to everyone else's banter. As you read this unprecedented full-cast gabfest, you'll know exactly what he means.
Following NCIS' season-ending explosion at the Navy yard, Gibbs & Co. will start the new season a little worse for wear.
