Martin runs for condo board president and Frasier does all the work. Frasier wants to be the condo board president, but knows he'll never win after getting on the bad side of every board member. So, he convinces Martin to run against him, knowing they'll choose his likeable father over him, then he can push all his agendas through Martin. In return, Frasier promises to do all the work and appease Martin by getting wider parking spaces. Frasier and Martin deliver their election speeches and as expected, the board unanimously votes Martin in. At first, the ever-popular Martin complies with all of Frasier's requests, but when Frasier gets mad at him for making a no-brainer decision without him, Martin rebels. He decides to run the show himself and implements getting wider parking spaces before Frasier's recommendation. The residents give Martin credit for all his brilliant ideas and they even bake a cake with his picture on it, much to Frasier's disgust. Jealousy gets the best of Frasier and he decides to expose Martin as a fraud at the next meeting. However, he ends up jumping to Martin's defense when the board turns against him for making the parking situation worse. Martin admits his presidency is a fa ade and explains the entire reason behind it. The group revolts and Martin states his resignation. When Martin and Frasier are walking out, the board is horrified to realize that the next in command for presidency is the runner up--Frasier! In the meantime, Niles and Daphne give Roz a hard time when they offer her a fruit salad called a m lange and she thinks they are asking her to engage in a provocative act.

Martin is roped into playing a singing wise man at a church Christmas pageant, but he wants to keep the performance a secret from Daphne for fear that she'll attend. However, Martin's secrecy about his frequent visits to the church leads Daphne to believe Martin is dying, though he's eventually able to assure her he's fine! In the meantime, en route to Frasier's Christmas Eve party, Niles gets stuck in Frasier's elevator and must climb out onto the elevator shaft in his expensive, tailored Italian suit to go for help. Frasier's not faring much better -- not knowing that Roz hasn't told her mother about her pregnancy, he blabs the news to Mrs. Doyle, much to Roz's chagrin. A motley crew convenes at Frasier's place for the party: Roz is furious at Frasier for spilling her secret; Martin is annoyed by his off-key singing at the Christmas pageant; and a grease-covered Niles staggers in late, his suit in tatters. Frasier then announces that the best present he could give everyone would be to tell them how much they mean to him -- but quickly thinks better of his plan and offers them gift certificates for massages instead.
