The Big Bang Theory, one of the TV shows most at home at Comic-Con, kicked off its panel on Friday with a clip from the Season 7 episode in which Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) try (and fail) to get tickets to the annual event.
Perhaps fittingly, the cast wasn't actually wasn't in attendance. Instead, the panel was only made up of the show's writers and executive producers Bill Prady and Steve Molaro, who shared some fun facts and a few details about the upcoming eighth season:

The Vampire Diaries has a new sheriff in town.
Eureka's Colin Ferguson has been cast as Tripp, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Tripp is a strong and disciplined head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town. He'll first appear in the Season 6 premiere, which takes place following a significant time jump.
Executive producer Julie Plec first teased the news on Twitter writing, "He's in town to give Sheriff Forbes a run for her money." Ferguson, best known for playing Sheriff Jack Carter on the Syfy series, also shared his excitement about joining the CW drama adding:
Question: I hope you'll mention the passing of one of my favorite shows, Eureka. With all the hoopla around the finale of The Closer and the buzz about new and returning summer shows, the final episode of this quirky and creative Syfy gem will probably go unnoticed by most. Over the years it's become one of my favorites, serving up some high concept sci-fi stories with a healthy dose of humor and heart. Although I knew it was ending, the announcement last week of the July 16 "series finale" made me sadder than I expected. It's like nothing else on TV and I will miss all these wonderful, eccentric characters and this charming, if sometimes dangerous, town. Thanks for your insightful columns and recommendations! — Lenore
Is this really happening? Eureka is back for its fifth and final season Monday (9/8c, Syfy) with a humdinger of an episode that has the starship Astraeus landing safely on Earth after its unplanned launch. But the crew members weren't in outer space for only a few hours like they thought — they were out there for four years! Naturally, the folks back home have moved on with their lives. Kids have grown up. New romances have blossomed. And sinister forces are now in charge of Global Dynamics. TV Guide Magazine spoke with Colin Ferguson — aka Sheriff Jack Carter — about these wild developments, the show's surprise demise, and what's in store for the series finale.
