Conan O'Brien
If Ireland could choose a poster boy or goodwill ambassador, we would nominate Conan O'Brien. He's got the trademark Irish red hair, blue eyes, freckles and dazzling wit. He also proved he can hold his own making and imbibing Irish cocktails when he raised a glass with Martha Stewart last St. Patrick's Day. Sláinte! The last film that Heath Ledger was working on before his death, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, is back in production in Vancouver, according to the Reporter. Director Terry Gilliam and producers halted production when Ledger died Jan. 22. Now that the film's back in action, producers have also explained how Ledger's part will be handled, following the addition of three new actors. In a statement, they said, "Since the format of the story allows for the preservation of his entire performance, at no point will Heath's work be modified or altered through the use of digital technology. From Bela Lugosi’s heart attack during Plan 9 from Outer Space and Natalie Wood’s drowning midway through Brainstorm to Brandon Lee’s fatal shooting on the set of The Crow, a number of productions have had to work around the unexpected death of a leading actor. Now it seems Terry Gilliam, the director of Heath Ledger’s last project, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, may have found a most creative way around his own tragic dilemma. According to Ain’t It Cool News, Ledger’s role in the film will now be played by not one but three alternating replacements: Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law.Not much is known about the plot of the film, but Ledger’s character has been described as a man in love with a young woman whose soul has been sold to the devil by her father, the traveling showman of the title, in exchange for eternal youth.
