Clive Owen Fast Facts:

Wasn't accepted by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art on his first try; worked as a house cleaner for two years then tried again, this time successfully.
Made professional stage debut as part of the Young Vic company in 1988.
Played Ross Tanner, a cop suffering from a virus that affects his vision, in the British TV series Second Sight.
Breakthrough movie role was in 1998's The Croupier, a flop in England but a sleeper hit in the U.S.
Had an uncredited in-joke cameo as Secret Agent 006 in the 2006 Steve Martin remake of The Pink Panther. Owen was for a time rumored to be in the running to take over the James Bond franchise from Pierce Brosnan (ultimately Daniel Craig had that honor).
