My boss is no Clive turkey. That's the gist of a statement posted by Kelly Clarkson to her fansite, in the wake of media coverage casting the wholesome American Idol in an unflattering light. "There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding [my new album]... much of which has focused on a supposed feud with my record label, in particular, Clive Davis," Kelly writes. "I want to set the record straight by saying that I want my band, my advisors, those close to me and my record label to be one big, tightly knit family. [We] will disagree and argue sometimes, but, in the end, it's respect and admiration that will keep us together."Most recently, Kelly seemingly dissed Davis by deeming him "80" years old and thus out of touch with her audience. Refusing to walk away from her beef with her record label, Kelly Clarkson tells the August issue of Blender that during one of her face-offs with BMG/RCA boss Clive Davis, she said, "I don't know you very well, and I am not a bullsh---er. I get [that] you don't like the album. You're 80; you're not supposed to like my album." The 25-year-old's harsh diss of the music legend, who had been vocal with his concerns about her new material, doesn't sit well with the American Idol's onetime judge and jury, Simon Cowell. "Clive Davis at 80 is better than 99 percent of the people in the music business in their twenties, thirties and forties. And he's not [even] 80, he's less than 80," Simon tells TV's Extra. Everyone was in the house for the grand finale of American Idol, as Jordin and Blake opened the show with a long-awaited Beatles tune. "I Saw Her Standing There" was a premonition of things to come. We drifted quickly into a performance by the touring Gwen Stefani singing her song “4 in the Morning.” She looked and sounded fantastic. Addressing talk that her forthcoming disc, "My December," has been less-than-warmly received by RCA Records overseer Clive Davis — to the point that a rumor circulated that the release has been snuffed all together — Kelly Clarkson says the sitch was "blown up" by the media. "Every record I've come out with, people have not liked," the original American Idol tells the AP. "There's always this battle, and it's not a bad battle to have. You don’t want 'yes' people around you, and [Davis] and others at the label have been in the business longer than I have."Kelly tells MTV.com that at one point, RCA urged her to cover a Lindsay Lohan (!) track, and also offered "hand-me-downs" from other singers.
