Thursday TV: Brilliant Community & Parks, a Live 30 Rock, More

Danny Pudi, Donald Glover

Welcome to May sweeps (albeit still in April) and, more important, the countdown to the end of the official broadcast season on May 23. Meaning an end, for now, to those pesky repeats and the start-and-stop scheduling of favorite shows. Reason enough to celebrate? Wait until you see what NBC has in store for you tonight (or at least for those choosy few who gravitate toward the network's better Thursday night comedies).

Parks and Rec: Leslie's New Competition, Tom and Ann's Future and a Visit from Anna Faris?

Amy Poehler

As Super Tuesday drew to a close, the candidate on everyone's mind at Parks and Recreation's PaleyFest event was Pawnee City Council hopeful Leslie Knope.

There are only a few weeks left in the NBC comedy's fictional campaign, but the race could go either way. Two endings were shot for the season finale — one in which Mouse Rat performs "Catch Your Dream" and the other in which they sing "Screw Your Dream" (you get the idea). "For a long time, we didn't know what it was going to be," star and producer Amy Poehler told TVGuide.com at Tuesday's event, which featured a panel moderated by TV Guide Magazine's Michael Schneider. read more

Nick Offerman, Parks and Recreation

Will Leslie choose her career or love? Has Tom left City Hall for good? Will Ron's eyebrows ever grow back? Last season's finale of Parks and Recreation was packed with more cliff-hangers than a whole season of The Killing!

Parks and Recreation finale: Will Ben and Leslie heat things up? And where's Tom going?

A Night Out with Parks and Recreation's Nick Offerman

Nick Offerman

What's better than breakfast meat and smoother than the jazz stylings of Duke Silver? That'd be Nick Offerman, the Parks and Recreation star who so brilliantly embodies Ron Swanson — director of the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Department and proud libertarian. As the sitcom winds down Season 3, we plied the deadpan actor with cocktails for a peek behind the moustache.

Get to Know Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza

She plays
April Ludgate, the Parks and Recreation staffer known as much for her back-and-forth flirtation with dimwit Andy (Chris Pratt) as for her chronically dry wit — something the actress admits to sharing with her alter ego. "Personality-wise, I guess I'm kind of sarcastic," confesses Plaza. "She's a younger, more rebellious, heightened version of me."

My Pawnee Valentine: The Cast of Parks and Recreation Explains Who's Hooking Up and Why

Amy Poehler, Adam Scott

When we last left Pawnee — a ridiculously long eight months ago — Parks and Recreation's romantic entanglements were only beginning to get, well, really tangled.

Visiting auditors Ben (Adam Scott)  and Chris (Rob Lowe) took a shine to Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ann (Rashida Jones), but Leslie kind of hated Chris' cynical attitude toward government, and Ann kind of hated that she got drunk and hooked up with Chris. Then there's April (Aubrey Plaza), who really hated Andy (Chris Pratt)  for letting Ann... read more

On the Set: Parks and Recreation Plans to “Go Big or Go Home” in Season 3

Parks and Recreation

In a rousing moment from the Season 3 premiere of Parks and Recreation, Leslie Knope excitedly rounds up her disbanded parks department. Tom's been working at Foot Locker, Ron's been in his wood shop, and Jerry ... well, Jerry's been relaxing happily since Pawnee's local government went out of business at the end of last season. With her troops gathered, Leslie makes her Hail Mary play, a bold proposal to the state auditors threatening to shut down the broke branch for good.

"She's like, 'Go big or go home,'" says Amy Poehler, who plays TV's chirpiest and most resilient civil servant. "'I say we put on this giant harvest festival. We try to get all the vendors, all the people in town, we raise the money we need for the parks department budget. If we don't make it, we're all fired.'"

Leslie’s high-stakes dilemma is not unlike the one faced by Parks as the show nears its return. read more

Rashida Jones: Parks and Recreation Is Not The Office

Parks and Recreation

Rashida Jones wants us to know that Parks and Recreation is not The Office's stepchild. But Jones says that big things are coming this season, both for that desolate pit and for the love lives of both Ann and Leslie (Amy Poehler). Jones, 33, tells TVGuide.com about Fred Armisen's guest stint, a possible crossover with The Office and her memories of family friend Michael Jackson.

TVGuide.com: How is the show different this season?
Jones:
I hope that people who watch The Office can now see that it's definitely different, but it's the kind of thing that you would want to watch if you like that show. Hopefully there's enough distance now. It's like becoming friends with an ex once you've had a little time after you broke up. Hopefully we'll be able to be friends now... read more
