J.J. Abrams will direct the sequel to his 2009 film Star Trek, Vulture reports.

Star Trek 2 will bring back Chris Pine as Capt. Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will write the screenplay with Damon Lindelof producing. The film was slated for a June 2012 release, but will likely be pushed back.

Abrams' Star Trek feature in the roles of engineering wizard/Romulan-ale enthusiast Montgomery Scott and Lt. Hikaru Sulu, says the Reporter. They join other future Enterprisers Zachary Quinto (as Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov), while Eric Bana has been tapped to play the villain. Gavin Hood (Tsotsi) has been tapped to direct Wolverine, the X-Men prequel chronicling the origins of Hugh Jackman's character. David Benioff penned the screenplay.... Also per the Hollywood Reporter, Knocked Up's Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg are in final talks to cowrite and coproduce a big-screen take on The Green Hornet, with Rogen playing the lead. Yeah, you read that last part right.... Bill Pullman, Eliza Dushku, Alan Rickman and Chris Pine are in for some Bottle Shock, an indie drama about the birth of the Napa Valley wine biz. read more
