Chris Harrison Dishes on Prepping for the Emmy Red Carpet

Chris Harrison

I'm very excited it's Emmy week, but I do have to admit I have a little hitch in my giddy-up (sorry for the Texas slang). Sunday, I took part in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, so as long as I don't have to run up the red carpet this week I'm good. A quick thanks to all my friends on team Disney and a big thanks to all those that raised money for Children's Hospital. This has become one of my favorite events of the year and I'm already looking forward to next year.

Now it's time to get to work on the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. I can't tell you how happy... read more

Chris Harrison

You don't have to wait until the next incarnation of The Bachelor to see Chris Harrison on your TV again. The host/matchmaker has paired with Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba to anchor TV Guide Network's red carpet coverage, starting with September's Emmy Awards. "What most people don't know is that this goes back to my true passion — live TV," Harrison, who also hosts Hollywood 411, tells TVGuide.com. "I started there as a local sportscaster in Oklahoma City and that will always be my love. It's kind of what I live for." But how does red-carpet coverage compare to his Bachelor/ette duties? Find out, and see what Harrison has to say about the Bachelorette finale and why a Friend should be the next Bachelor.

The Bachelor Episode Recap: February 23, 2009

I wasn't sure whether to recap this week's women-tell-all episode, because it had kind of a potluck feel: Taking a break from the drama unfolding between Jason, Molly, and Melissa, the show looked back on some past seasons and the unbelievable (read: not unbelievable) antics that haven't made it into this arc's regular episodes. read more

Chris Harrison Looking for a New Bachelorette

Chris Harrison, DeAnna Pappas on The Bachelorette

It's a good time to be a Bachelorette: ABC's hit series is conducting its first search for a female star of the hit series, after years of choosing her from among the contestants who don't find a love connection on The Bachelor. Chris Harrison, the host of both shows, talked to us recently about the search, and about the next season of The Bachelor, which returns with a two-hour premiere on Jan. 5. In another first, the women will compete for the affections of a single dad, last season's The Bachelorette runner-up Jason Mesnick. DeAnna Pappas rejected him in favor of snowboarder Jesse Csincsak, but the couple's relationship, alas, has come to an end. The happily married Harrison, who also co-hosts Hollywood 411 on the TV Guide Network, talked about DeAnna and Jesse, whether you can find true love on TV, and whether we'll ever see a gay Bachelor or Bachelorette. read more

May 22, 2007: The Aftermath

After 10 seasons of The Bachelor and three seasons of The Bachelorette, Chris Harrison informed us tonight that only four couples are still together. In addition to our newest couple, Charlie and Sarah are happily living together in Los Angeles; Byron and Mary are cozy in Texas and will wed in the fall; while Trista and Ryan have been married for four years and are expecting a little one at the end of the summer. And on a bittersweet note, my favorite bachelor of all time, Andrew Firestone, recently proposed to his girlfriend, which sadly means he is once again off the market. In years past, the reunion show meant we got to see all of the ladies one last time, as they rehashed their feelings with one another and fired uncomfortable questions at the bachelor. Tonight's gathering was much smaller and much more subdued, as we were only privy to seeing five of the original 25 women from this season. Amber, Danielle and Steph T. were the first three to grace the stage with Chris. As ... read more

November 20, 2006: The Women Tell All

A note to The Bachelor producers: This show could be so much better if we saw more of the “real” footage we’re supposed to be seeing on a reality show. It was so much more entertaining watching Lorenzo make up words and swat wasps and say “I think it’s a cow penis” than seeing him whip out one sappy line after the next. Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe people can genuinely fall in love on this show because they’re manipulated by all the romantic surroundings (Rome, a castle, fireworks, hot tubs, a private opera, diamond earrings, and beds covered in rose petals just to name a few). But then we see the raw footage of them being goofy and romantic without the forced cheesiness, and it explains how it actually is possible. So please, if you want better ratings and a more satisfied audience, show us more of the good stuff and less of the stuff that makes me roll my eyes. Oh, and one more thing — please pay for Agnese to take a few Engli... read more

October 2, 2006: When Prince Lorenzo Met 27 Women

Yes, it’s true that most girls dream about marrying a prince someday. But having to compete with 26 gorgeous and catty princess wannabes at the same time — not so much. At least not in my dreams. But hey, that’s why I love The Bachelor so much. I get to watch women put their hearts on the line, get drunk on national television and make out in a hot tub with camera crews looking on. After a really long two-hour premiere filled with endless clichés (he’s a prince! a castle in Rome!) and Chris Harrison's cheesy lines (“This season the fairy tale is more real than ever!” “It’s the decision of a lifetime!”), I’ve decided the best reason to watch this show is for the nutty women. Now don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy rooting for some of the relationships (RIP Andrew and Jen) or sometimes even pretending like I’m the one on that exotic date in Paris (come on, admit it — you do, too). But really, Lorenzo doesn’t do much... read more

The Bachelor: Paris With my best...

The Bachelor: Paris With my best Dieter from Sprockets impersonation, let me say, "This is the point in The Bachelor when we gang up on Moana." She is the bad girl this year. She's tough, indifferent and self-admittedly not that interested in the Bachelor. Then, like that, she's all into him. So much so that she's breaking down in tears during a heated interview with cast-off candidates, and worse, in front of Travis. Moana, I'm happy you're finally getting these burdens off your chest, but that frozen mask of terror on his face during your purging is killing your chances. I'm not saying a breakdown on your part wasn't warranted. Overhearing the other girls talking nasty about you behind your back and then confronting them can take a lot out of a per read more
