How I Met Your Mother Boss: There Are More Twists and Turns for Robin

Cobie Smulders

Be warned, How I Met Your Mother fans: You may want to have some Kleenex nearby for Monday's episode. "I think it's fair to say that the episode is different than anyone had imagined coming into it," co-creator/co-executive producer Craig Thomas tells TVGuide.com. "It's one of those where while we're shooting it and editing it that you see people tearing up. It's very funny, but it's very emotional too. The very end of the episode seems like it's made a lot of people cry, but it's a good cry." The episode picks up moments after Robin (Cobie Smulders) told Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) that she's pregnant and it is chock-full of more surprises, Thomas says — including, as the logline teases, some "bad news" for Robin. What could that be? Read on to see Thomas' hints about this revelation, why he and Carter Bays wrote the pregnancy, and what's next for the rest of the season.

Keck's Exclusives: How I Met Your Mother's Upcoming Milestones

Cobie Smulders

With the death of Marshall's father last spring and Robin's recent emotional roller coaster, CBS' How I Met Your Mother has been playing out like a daytime soap, and executive producer Carter Bays says there's more drama ahead next year. "We always try to do that delicate dance between lighthearted comedy and real issues," Carter says. Among the upcoming developments:

• Barney finds romantic stability — likely with a woman named... read more

How I Met Your Mother's Nazanin Boniadi: I'm Torn Over Who Barney Should End Up With

Nazanin Boniadi, Neil Patrick Harris

Who was Nazanin Boniadi's childhood crush? None other than Neil Patrick Harris.

"I've loved him since I was little. I'm not even joking! I've had a crush on him forever," she tells TVGuide.com. "So to be playing his girlfriend now is surreal."

How I Met Your Mother boss: Can Barney and Robin ignore their chemistry?

When Boniadi landed the part of Nora on How I Met Your Mother last year, little did she know that it would lead to a recurring gig with no end in sight for now — she has "no clue" how many episodes she'll be in this season — never mind the fact that Nora, and not Robin (Cobie Smulders), would be the one to force Barney (Harris) to reevaluate his womanizing lifestyle.

"In real life, too, women love to be that girl who tames the bad boy," Boniadi says. "It's always fun to play that character, especially with Barney Stinson, who's so beloved. You get to act opposite Neil. He's phenomenal. He raises everybody's game. To work opposite him, you have to be at your best and you become better and better as you work with him."

The General Hospital alum got a crash course in slapstick acting — a Harris forte — on Monday's episode when Barney and Nora's planned ...

Top Moments: Real Housewives' Wedding Bell Blues and Kim Kardashian's Nude Awakening

The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kourtney and Kim Take New York

Our top moments of the week:

14. Best Kiss: We've seen plenty of shirtless Stefan Salvatore shots on The Vampire Diaries, so it was about time we got not one, but two Damon shower scenes. At the end of the episode, Damon soaks in a bubble bath with his new lady Andie. In true vampire fashion, Damon grabs her for an intense kiss, and then nibbles on her neck until we see blood drip down her soaking wet back.

13. Biggest Loser and Gainer: We get that The Biggest Loser is not the best way for everyone to lose weight. But...

How I Met Your Mother - Chris Elliott, Cobie Smulders, Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris

Richard Heene is not exactly the first name that comes to mind when thinking of model dads, but the father of Balloon Boy was exactly who Chris Elliott looked to when he joined How I Met Your Mother as Lily's estranged father.

"When I was shooting it, the whole Bubble Boy thing was going on, so I was ...

NOT FEELING THE LOVE

Brad Garrett

If everybody at CBS loves the idea of a Robert-based Everybody Loves Raymond spin-off, they have a funny way of showing it. "CBS waited so long [to put it in motion] that we've lost most of the writers," Brad Garrett, now costarring in Broadway's The Odd Couple, tells Fox News. "We're in limbo now, so it looks like it won't happen." There goes Chris Elliott's nest egg. read more

EVERYBODY LOVES ROBERT?

Brad Garrett

As Brad Garrett joked on stage — and then later verified in the pressroom — at the Emmys, where he grabbed his third win in the supporting actor in a comedy category, talks have heated up in recent weeks regarding a possible Everybody Loves Raymond spin-off centered on big (and freakishly so) brother Robert. Not only are Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal and several scribes said to be on board for the follow-up, but also cast members Monica Horan, Fred Willard, Georgia Engel and Chris Elliott. And in my own honest opinion, you can never get enough Chris Elliott. read more
