Exclusive: O.C. Bad Boy Gets Desperate

Desperate Housewives has tapped onetime O.C. jock Chris Carmack for a potentially recurring role, sources confirm to me exclusively. Carmack will play Susan's studly cousin Tim, who shows up on Wisteria Lane to help his older cuz with her taxes and ends up doing Mike's, too. (If the character sounds oddly familiar, here's why.) Housewives is also casting a teenaged version of Tim, who'll be seen in a flashback. Tim apparently witnessed a tragic event, possibly involving Susan... and Howie Long... and a series of Radio Shack ads. I kid. Weigh in on Carmack's casting below. And please, I beg of you, resist the urge to… oh, let me just get it out of the way now: Welcome to Wisteria Lane, bitch! read more

Amanda Bynes: She's a Man, Baby!

Amanda Bynes bends her gender in She's the Man.

In the new comedy She's the Man (in theaters now), Amanda Bynes plays Viola, a soccer star forced to get her kicks by masquerading as her twin brother, Sebastian. Along the way, of course, all manner of hunky guys and ironically attracted girls find themselves mesmerized by this gal in disguise. Was Bynes able to pull it off? Should Felicity Huffman be looking over her shoulder? And more to the point, is the perky What I Like About You star ready to kick some Natalie Portman butt this weekend? Here's what Bynes shared with TVGuide.com in a fun one-on-one. TVGuide.com: Seeing She's the Man almost — and my AP English teacher will be happy to hear this — made me want to actually read Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, on which it is loosely based. Or at least revisit the CliffsNotes read more

Ex-O.C. Hunk: "I'm Not Luke!"

"Welcome to the O.C., bitch!" No, we're not dissin' you, gentle readers. That's just the line Chris Carmack made infamous on Fox's teen soap, The O.C., where he played semi-reformed bad boy Luke Ward. While the popular 23-year-old actor has moved on, Luke-aholics aren't yet ready to let him leave his signature role behind. Sometimes, they really freak him out... Carmack's based in Southern California, where TV viewers live right in the midst of show business. Surely they're sophisticated enough to tell him and his soap character apart? "You give them too much credit," Carmack grumbles to TV Guide Online. "I can't even tell you the amount of people I've met who think my name is Luke and that I do live in Orange County. So don't put it past anyone. If somebody calls me Luke and expects me to engage in conversation with them... Oh, those poor souls are mistaken." Ouch! Well tonight, Carmack does another sexy badass turn in The Last Ride read more

Chris Carmack Exits The O.C.

Last week, fans of The O.C. were majorly bummed, dude. How could the teen soap's best-looking bad boy, Luke Ward, be packed off to Portland? At the season's start, he made a big bang with his signature catchphrase: "Welcome to the O.C., bitch!" He bullied Ryan, cheated on girlfriend Marissa — after taking her virginity — then seduced Marissa's mom, Julie Cooper. He was bad, but he looked damn good doing it. Here, TV Guide Online asks 23-year-old Chris Carmack why Luke had to go, and learns what's next for the fan fave. TV Guide Online: Though the producers deny it, rumor has it a salary dispute made them decide against bringing you back next season.Chris Carmack: There was no salary dispute. They were unsure where the character was going to go. He started out as an antagonist, became a bit of a protagonist — a character you cared about — and that grew. I don't know what precipitated the choices the writers made about writin read more

The O.C.'s Finale Bash

Having wrapped filming on Season 1, The O.C. threw a cast party Tuesday at Falcon on L.A.'s Sunset Strip. There was much for McG & Co. to toast that night, especially since Fox just renewed the hit teen soap for next season. (As if there were any doubt!) Still, Party Boy wasn't in the most celebratory mood. I'm still cross that producers fired hottie Chris Carmack, packing Luke off to Portland last week. How could they? "Yeah, it's unfortunate," said Benjamin Mackenzie, who plays broody Ryan. "The challenge the producers and writers faced with Luke was they weren't interested in continuing the Luke-Marissa-Ryan triangle too long. So once the triangle worked itself through, they were left with the problem of, 'What do we do with him?'" Luke's love affair with ex-girlfriend Marissa's mom, Julie Cooper, sure was naughty. "He was great with doing comedy," Mackenzie agreed. "I thought that plotline was a lot of fun, but once that ran out read more
