The Wednesday Playlist: Musical Rivalries on Nashville as Voice Takes On Idol

Don't you hate when this sort of thing happens? Country diva frenemies Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) both get nominated for CMA Awards on ABC's Nashville (Wednesday, 10/9c) — oh who am I kidding, we love when these things happen.read more

The Wednesday Playlist: A Pivotal Idol, Great Guests on ABC Comedies

Here's a fearless (and rather obvious) prediction for what could be a pivotal week on Fox's American Idol. Regardless of what happens on the next performance show (Wednesday, 8/7c), if America's vote endangers any of the girls — none of whom have been sent home yet (sorry, guys, especially Burnell) — the judges will almost certainly use their season's one "save."read more

Mega Buzz: Bones' Finale, a Game of Thrones Baby, and a Mad Men Return

Any more teasers about the Bones finale? I'm still hoping for a proposal after Monday's visit to the diamond shop! — Bridget
ADAM:
While last year's finale cast Brennan under suspicion, this season-ender may have some raising eyebrows about Booth. "There is a connection to Booth's past," executive producer Stephen Nathan says about the case in the finale. "We find out about some of his work at the FBI that we didn't know about. And it appears as if the victims have a close connection to Booth." So is Booth dirty or is this the work of the returning Pelant? Time will tell. As to the to the more bling-y part of your question: "The notion of marriage is again brought up in the finale," Nathan teases. "If you thought the pot was stirred [this week], the pot... overflows and messes up the kitchen floor in the season finale." Sounds like marriage to me!

Nashville's Sam Palladio: There's a Bumpy Road Ahead for Scarlett and Gunnar

Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) may have taken their relationship to the next level when they slept together on Nashville, but Scunnar fans might want to hold off on celebrating. The new couple's honeymoon period may be short-lived, according to Palladio.

That's not entirely surprising, given the fact that the event that immediately preceded their hookup was Gunnar learning that his brother had been murdered. But when Nashville returns from a month-long hiatus Wednesday (10/9c, ABC), there's another source of complications for Scarlett and Gunnar: trying to balance their new romantic relationship with their professional songwriting partnership. It's a classic story of co-ed songwriting duos, and the pair may be headed for a "Fleetwood Mac sort of thing," Palladio admits.

Love Heats Up in Nashville: Rayna and Deacon! Scarlett and Gunnar! Juliette and ...

Lust. Love. Heartbreak. Three things that make for a great country song. And great television. At Saturday's PaleyFest panel for freshman music drama Nashville, moderated by TV Guide Magazine President and Editor-in-Chief Debra Birnbaum, the cast and producers spilled on what's coming up behind the scenes — talk of a tour is in "vague stages" according to star Charles Esten — and on screen... read more

Exclusive: O.C. Bad Boy Gets Desperate

Desperate Housewives has tapped onetime O.C. jock Chris Carmack for a potentially recurring role, sources confirm to me exclusively. Carmack will play Susan's studly cousin Tim, who shows up on Wisteria Lane to help his older cuz with her taxes and ends up doing Mike's, too. (If the character sounds oddly familiar, here's why.) Housewives is also casting a teenaged version of Tim, who'll be seen in a flashback. Tim apparently witnessed a tragic event, possibly involving Susan... and Howie Long... and a series of Radio Shack ads. I kid. Weigh in on Carmack's casting below. And please, I beg of you, resist the urge to… oh, let me just get it out of the way now: Welcome to Wisteria Lane, bitch! read more

Amanda Bynes: She's a Man, Baby!

In the new comedy She's the Man (in theaters now), Amanda Bynes plays Viola, a soccer star forced to get her kicks by masquerading as her twin brother, Sebastian. Along the way, of course, all manner of hunky guys and ironically attracted girls find themselves mesmerized by this gal in disguise. Was Bynes able to pull it off? Should Felicity Huffman be looking over her shoulder? And more to the point, is the perky What I Like About You star ready to kick some Natalie Portman butt this weekend? Here's what Bynes shared with TVGuide.com in a fun one-on-one. TVGuide.com: Seeing She's the Man almost — and my AP English teacher will be happy to hear this — made me want to actually read Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, on which it is loosely based. Or at least revisit the CliffsNotes read more
