Chaz Bono and Cher
Chaz Bono took home two honors at the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards.
Glee, The Voice snag GLAAD Media Award nominations
Bono, 43, received the outstanding documentary prize for Becoming Chaz, an OWN special that chronicled his gender transition. He was also given the Stephen F. Kolziak award, which honors a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered member of the entertainment community. Past recipients have included Melissa Etheridge, Ellen DeGeneres and Rufus Wainright. Bono was the first transgender contestant to appear on Dancing with the Stars, which was recognized as Outstanding Reality Program by GLAAD last month.
Days after receiving an early renewal for Season 2, Smash was honored by GLAAD's Media Awards Saturday in New York City.
Two of the show's producers, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, accepted the Vito Russo award for special recognition. Zadan said being gay was "part of who I am, so it...
There's something different about Dancing with the Stars this season — and it's not just the stage.
"There's no lightning rod! No one [is] controversial, so everyone can stop freaking out!" Tom Bergeron tells TVGuide.com.
Dancing's Maria Menounos: Don't call me the favorite
After nabbing such divisive figures as Kate Gosselin, Bristol Palin, Chaz Bono and even perceived ringers like Nicole Scherzinger in the past few seasons, executive producer Conrad Green and casting director Deena Katz went with a low-key approach for Season 14. They also had a theme: nostalgia. The new crop includes the old-school likes of ...
Chaz Bono and Jennifer Elia
Chaz Bono may have proposed on TV, but it doesn't look like he'll be walking down the aisle anytime soon.
The reality TV star and his fiancee, Jennifer Elia, have broken off their engagement and are no longer dating, TMZ reports. No reason was given for the split.
Karina Smirnoff, J.R. Martinez
What is newly crowned Dancing With the Stars champion J.R. Martinez going to do with his mirror ball trophy? "I'm gonna put mine in bed. I'm gonna tuck it in, and it's gonna roll around with me. And after that, I'm gonna glue it on the hood of my car and drive around Los Angeles honking my horn. It's gonna be my own parade."
Here's what happened to the Dancing With the Stars finalists on Monday night: Ricki Lake did her best not to screw up the lifts in her freestyle dance — "I was really afraid of falling down," she said.
Kym Johnson and David Arquette
Kym Johnson has two Mirrorball trophies, but this is the first time the Dancing with the Stars pro is trying to defend her title. She sat out the 10th season after winning with Donny Osmond, but Johnson, who won last season with Hines Ward, is still very much in the running on Season 13 with David Arquette. "I would love to defend. That would be incredible to win back to back," she tells TVGuide.com. "But honestly I don't really think about that. We've got a long road to go before I can even consider it." After landing in the actual bottom two on the second week, the pair has been steadily improving and Johnson believes they can win it all. But what do they need to go all the way? Plus: Get Johnson's take on the Maks-Len fracas...
Chaz Bono, Lacey Schwimmer
You can only imagine the enormity of the pressure on Chaz Bono during his six-week run on Dancing With the Stars: He was the child of Cher, one of the world's biggest celebrities, he had bad knees and was terribly out of shape, and there were rumors of death threats because his presence on the show made him the poster boy for the transgender community. In fact, the show's impressive security presence — big, beefy guys who are scattered throughout the ballroom — was always heightened when Chaz was on stage.
But he remained a humble, dignified, good-humored guy, holding his own in the face of ...
Maks Chmerkovskiy, Len Goodman
"Maksgate." That's what ousted celebrity dancer Carson Kressley is calling the dust-up Monday night between pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy and two of the three Dancing With the Stars judges...
What a difference a week makes. In the course of seven days, two very different men have changed the way transgender activist Chaz Bono moves on Dancing With the Stars: the first is former swing dance champion Buddy Schwimmer, dance teacher and father of Bono's partner, Lacey. And the second is fellow competitor J.R. Martinez, who shot to the top of the fifth-week leader board.
