Steven Soderbergh
Steven Soderbergh is developing a high-concept 3-D live-action rock ’n’ roll musical about one of the most famous women in history, Cleopatra.
An odd combo, you say? But the makeup and jewelry alone in Cleopatra's era scream for rockin' musical numbers! Some high profile talent may be buying into that theory as well – Soderbergh is wooing...

Catherine Zeta-Jones will not be playing Claudia in a big-screen adaptation of the musical Nine, now that Rob Marshall (who directed the Welsh stunner to an Oscar in Chicago) has declined to beef up the role. As of now, says the New York Daily News, Javier Bardem is on board as Guido, Sophia Loren his mother and Penélope Cruz his mistress. The short list to replace CZJ includes Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Kate Hudson. (Um, let's hope the costume designer hadn't gotten started yet.)

When I need to get away, I plan a weekend at the Jersey shore. But Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas? When they get wanderlust, they plan to shoot a movie in India. "We will take our kids and all of us will come there, set up camp
and shoot a film," the Chicago vamp told The Times of India but declined to get into specifics about the pic. As long as Zeets isn't hidden behind a sari, I know Mitovich'll be down with it.

Thanks to all of you who have been watching The Real Wedding Crashers [Mondays at 10 pm/ET, on NBC]. People keep asking me for insight into the next episode, so I may as well give it all away. This is actually one of my favorite episodes. There are pranks involving a mishap at a tanning salon and an audition for wedding singers. I got to play three different characters: a horrible wedding singer with neck tattoos, an animal rights protestor, and, of course, an annoying wedding guest. I really had fun doing all three, but my favorite had to be the animal rights protestor. I am conducting a protest because a store sells fur, and the bride enters with one of her bridesmaids. When they exit the store, I give them a hard time for shopping there, and let's just say, the mark does not like me very much at all. The bit also includes live farm animals. It's always been a dream of mine to work with farm animals. Now, I'm proud to say it's a reality. I guess all kinds of weird things start to...

Well folks, In just a handful of days you will be experiencing a show like no other. No, I'm not talking about the premiere of me hosting "The Secrete Life Of..." (Monday, April 23rd). I'm refering to the Food Network Awards! A night I will never forget because it's pretty much like the Oscars for food. Get ready for a spectacular host (Emeril!) and watch how all of your favorite Food Network hosts are up on stage strangling each other in a pit of chocolate pudding. Ok, I made that part up...but wouldn't it be great to see me and Giada chocolate wrestling. Oh, such wishful thinking! Either way, the show is entertaining and full of surprises (yep...Catherine Zeta Jones!). And most importantly I will be hosting the red carpet with my new best friend...Marc Summers! Remember, it's this Sunday, April 15th!!!GD

Kristen Bell, Veronica Mars
What? Kristen Bell is here, in the Big Apple, to promote the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her comedy Fifty Pills? Say no more — I'm there. After all, not all of us can rub elbows with her on the set, as Ausiello did during his turn as an extra on Veronica Mars (Tuesdays at 9 pm/ET). Radiating sunniness and warmth, Bell had much to discuss in addition to Pills, in which she plays a coed whose mild-mannered beau gets roped into dealing Ecstasy "for just one day," to pay off a student loan. (Been there, done th-... um, crazy concept, I meant to say!) TVGuide.com asked the actress about her numerous new film roles as well as, of course, the up-in-the-air fate of her UPN series.

Dude looks like a lady: Felicity Huffman, Catherine Zeta-Jones
Question: Why are actresses playing transsexuals in movies lately? First Felicity Huffman and now possibly Catherine Zeta-Jones. I think it's completely ridiculous/offensive that these roles aren't being cast with actual transsexual actors. Not only would that be a wonderful way to represent more diversity in Hollywood, but it makes sense to cast someone whose own life is the same as the character's. Being a transsexual is not a mere lifestyle choice that an actor can emulate; it's a gender. This new trend is like having a man play a woman, a woman play a man or even having one race play another — a practice I thought had finally left Hollywood.Answer: First, I need to point out that even by the laziest J-school standards, it takes three instances to make a trend. Right now we've got one confirmed instance — Felicity Huffman as a fictional pre-op transsexual in Transamerica

Now here's a gamble if ever I heard one: The suits at Warner Bros. are proceeding with plans to make another Ocean's Eleven sequel — Ocean's Thirteen, natch — but without Oscar-winning eye candy Catherine Zeta-Jones or Julia Roberts in the cast. Joining George, Brad and Matt in the women's place will be a new tough gal — or rather, an old familiar one — Ellen Barkin (Sea of Love). Filming is scheduled to begin on July 21.

Eric Idle
Eric Idle has every reason to gab. He's not only the creator (with John Du Prez) of the Tony-winning musical Spamalot, he's also the main attraction in the opener of Monty Python's Personal Best (premiering tonight on PBS; check local listings), a three-week series of specials featuring each Python player's favorite bits, along with new material. (Example: In addition to introducing gems like "Nudge, Nudge," Idle plays a German with a weird theory about Python humor.) To mark this recycling of material, Idle spoke with TV Guide about "the Beatles of comedy," one of his greatest influences and his plans for another stage musical.
TV Guide: The Pythons have been described as "the Bea
