Catherine O'Hara Fast Facts:
  • Was 7 when she made her first foray into acting as Mary in a nativity play.
  • Attended the same high school as fellow Canadian actor Dave Foley.
  • Waitressed at the Toronto Second City Theatre Company in 1973, then replaced Gilda Radner as a cast regular a year later.
  • Credited as one of the original founders of SCTV in 1976.  
  • Met husband, Oscar-nominated production designer Bo Welch, on the set of Beetlejuice in 1988.
  • Won a Genie Award (Canada's equivalent of an Oscar) for her work in the drama The Life Before This (2000).
  • Garnered an American Comedy Award in 2001 for Funniest Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in the 2000 mockumentary Best in Show.
  • Took lessons in playing the auto harp for her role in 2003's A Mighty Wind. That same year, she landed on Entertainment Weekly's It List for Scene Stealer.
