While excavating in the Dordogne Valley of France, a scientific research team's new invention, a time-travel machine, has inadvertently sent archaeology professor Edward Johnston back to 14th-century France. Johnston's only chance for rescue lies in the hands of his son Chris and several of his students. The time travelers must make the same treacherous journey and retrieve the professor before he's lost to history forever.

A dying cop escapes from her death bed to close her last case. She is pursued by her guilt ridden former partner, Joe. The search for closure puts them both on an unavoidable path to the mysterious Baxter.
