  • During World War II, made propaganda films for the British army, including 1944's The Way Ahead, written by acclaimed thriller novelist Eric Ambler and actor and director Peter Ustinov.
  • Masterwork is the classic Cold War spy thriller The Third Man (1949), based on a book by Graham Greene and starring Orson Welles.
