Mega Buzz on 24, Heroes, SVU, Without a Trace and More

24, Heroes, Law & Order: SVU

Senior editors Matt Mitovich, Mickey O'Connor and Tim Molloy answer your questions. Speaking of questions, we invite you to drop us a line at mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

24 is totally back on track, but the one downside is Sean. I don't know whether it's the actor or the writing, but I do know I want that guy gone. Anything coming up that would make me a happy camper? — Mike
MATT: I suppose it would depend on whether Sean (aka he who has since been revealed as Moley McMoleberg) is truly traitorous or a red herring a la Season 6's Nadia. My own moles (none of whom are played by Rhys Coiro, mind you) tell me that Agent Hillinger's fate may be cinched during the game-changing back-to-back episodes airing March 2.

Please tell this Heroes fan that somehow Hiro or Peter will get the power to travel through time again so that they can go back and save Daphne. — Ashley
TIM: Good concept, but Heroes has promised us ... read more

My Big Fat Mama's Family Wedding

Mama'a Family screengrab courtesy Warner Bros.

Today’s Video Break: Mama’s FamilyEpisode: "The Wedding (Pt. 1)"Year: 1983Why we love this episode: This episode is just screaming classic goodness. Not only do we have fond memories of Mama and the gang getting wasted on wine the night before Vint and Naomi’s wedding, but this episode features two Golden Girls (Rue McClanahan and Betty White) and Carol Burnett as guest stars. It doesn’t get much better than that!Watch it now! | More online videos read more

Pushing Daisies Brings the TV Season to Life

No show pushes my buttons the way Pushing Daisies does. Like its awkward hero who resurrects the dead (albeit only momentarily in most cases), this Technicolored kaleidoscope fable of life, love and perpetual whimsy restores my faith in TV's ability to amuse, enchant and entertain with endless invention and eye-popping style. Bearing echoes of "Edward Scissorhands," "Amélie" and The Avengers (when a killer is disguised as a crash-test dummy), Daisies is wonderful in the best sense of the word. It inspires a childlike wonder as we meet a fabulous array of wacky, lovable characters. Ned (the adorable Lee Pace), a lonely pie maker, brings the dead to life with a touch, but only for a minute — or someone else will die. Touching them again sends them away forever. He broke precedent for Chuck (luminous Anna Friel), the childhood sweetheart he keeps alive and who joins him on his bizarre misadventures, along with curmudgeonly private eye Emerson (hi read more

DVD Pick of the Week - April 17, 2007

I'm going out on a limb this week, and I'm choosing a DVD set I haven't seen for my "Pick of the Week" (minor mix-up at the PR firm) - Not Just The Best Of The Larry Sanders Show. Though this is a dreaded "best of" release (please, please continue with the series in seasons sets), there are tons of bonus materials on the release. Garry Shandling is joined by Peter Tolan for commentary on two episodes, with Todd Holland and Judd Apatow doing one episode a piece. There's a documentary about making the series, deleted and extended scenes, alternate takes, and interviews with Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, David Duchovny, Tom Petty, Jerry Seinfeld, Sharon Stone, Jon Stewart, Carol Burnett, Penny Johnson, Wallace Langham, Scott Thompson, Janeane Garofalo, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Sarah Silverman, Jeremy Piven, Bob Odenkirk and Linda Doucett. Those special features join 23 episodes of the series on 4 discs. The only thing that would make this set better? Well, that would be the rest of the seas... read more

Family Feud: Carol Burnett Sues Fox 'Toon

Legendary comedienne Carol Burnett has filed suit against Twentieth Century Fox, claiming that Family Guy misappropriated her name and likeness by showing her "Charwoman" character mopping a porn shop's floor in an April 2006 episode, as a rip-off of her variety show's theme song played. (Video here.) Per papers obtained by TheSmokingGun.com, Burnett claims that after she denied Family Guy the use of her theme song back in 2005, she was spitefully targeted by the show. Burnett's copyright-infringement suit seeks $6 million in damages. Tug on that, Stewie. read more

We Have the 411 on Reno 911!

Carlos Alazraqui, Reno 911!

From Barney Fife to Barney Miller, cops and comedy have made hysterical bedfellows. Comedy Central's cult hit Reno 911! is proof that the bumbling-police shtick remains in fine hands. The mostly improvised series plays its Cops-like parody for plenty of white-trash gags and silly sexual innuendos. Comic Carlos Alazraqui, who plays dim-witted deputy James Garcia, took a few moments away from World Cup action to lay down the law with TVGuide.com about his screwy series arriving on DVD this week, what the new season promises, and what's up with these modern Keystone Kops hitting movie screens. TVGuide.com: So, Reno 911! — The Complete Third Season is here on DVD.Carlos Alazraqui: Yeah, and fans will love the read more

It seems a given, in the many ...

Question: It seems a given, in the many questions about network scheduling that you receive, that Saturday night is where TV shows go to die, so no one schedules a potential keeper on Saturday. Yet within living memory (mine, at least), CBS had a killer Saturday lineup that would put any recent "must-see" night to shame (All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Carol Burnett). I know we went out on Saturday night in the '70s (and with no TiVo, or even VCRs). It can't just be due to the fracturing of cable — if the audience is really too small on Saturday, then it's too small whether your share is 15 percent or 35 percent. I've been looking back trying to find the tipping point, but I can't see when the landscape changed. What in the business has caused this change in perception? On a completely unrelated note: I have fallen in love with Slings & Arrows. Has there been, or is there going to be, a third season? I need more of New Burbage! Answer: First off, I'm thrilled ... read more

HOUSEWIVES SEES RED

Carol Burnett

When Desperate Housewives' Andrew seeks to be emancipated from his mother's watch, look for legendary funny lady Carol Burnett to hit Wisteria Lane as Bree's tightly wound stepmother, Eleanor Mason. "I thought this would be a hoot," Burnett, who is tentatively slated to first air April 9, tells USA Today. "I've watched All My Children for a hundred years, and this, too, is a very campy soap." But once Eleanor's stay is over, will Bree be saying, "I'm so glad we had this time together"? read more

Dancing with the Stars Have the...

Drew Lachey, Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars Have the celebrities completely forgotten that they're only competing for a great, big disco ball? They're so damn nervous and serious now. OK, it's great that they're dedicated and determined, and I'm sure being on the show has meant a lot to their careers and status at Hollywood restaurants. But get some perspective and pull yourselves together, people! You're already rich and famous. Stacy and Tony: That Priscilla-Lola training cracked me up, and it kinda worked, too. I don't know if it was her dress or what, but she looked just the slightest bit uncomfortable in the shoulders during the quickstep. Amazing footwork as always (and the Tom Bergeron quote of the night to Carrie Ann: " read more

I heard that Carol Burnett's ...

Question: I heard that Carol Burnett's daughter died tragically. Do you know the story?Answer: Yes, I do, Janean. Carrie Hamilton, the 38-year-old actress, writer and musician whose father was late Carol Burnett Show producer Joe Hamilton, died of cancer-related complications in Los Angeles in 2002. Of course, it's always sad when someone dies young. But Hamilton, who appeared on the TV series Fame during the last season (1986-87) of its first-run syndicated years and did guest work on Murder, She Wrote, thirtysomething, Beverly Hills 90210, read more
