24 Finale Preview! Plus: Carlos Bernard Says Kiefer Sutherland's Head-Butt Case "Smells Bad"

This Monday from 8 to 10 pm/ET, Fox's 24 wraps up its latest wild day with Jack compelled to set free his fallen friend, Tony, lest daughter Kim get killed. In this TVGuide.com Q&A, Carlos Bernard previews the surprise-filled season-ender, takes some issue with Tony's "bad guy" status, and also shares his take on Kiefer Sutherland's recent scrape with the law, saying the whole situation "smells bad."

TVGuide.com: At the start of the season, did they map out for you the whole "Tony's bad/No, he's good/No, really, he's bad" arc? So you could prepare as an actor?
Carlos Bernard: Going into the season, we knew we wanted to make him "the antagonist" — I can't really get on board with the "bad guy" thing — and one of the things explained in the finale tonight is ...read more

24 Trailer Premieres in Times Square

Not even the rain could keep the Jack Bauer faithful away from the world-premiere trailer for the new season of 24 in Times Square on Thursday. An estimated 200 people congregated around the giant Panasonic screen to watch scenes from the much-anticipated two-hour Season 7 premiere that will air on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 8 pm/ET. Fox promotion winners from around the country were flown in from as far as Phoenix to attend the screening and get a chance to meet actress Mary Lynn Rajskub. “Luckily I saw the trailer yesterday because I couldn’t really focus on it with all these people,” Rajskub told TVGuide.com. “It was very exciting, I’m glad people turned out.” The trailer opens with a new setting of Washington, D.C., and Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) on trial for his interrogation methods in his past six action-packed days. However, sticking to the spirit of 24, things start going wrong very quickly when ex-colleague Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) returns as Jac... read more

24's Audrey & Jack: Happily Ever After?

In this TV Guide Q&A, Kim Raver of Fox's powerhouse 24 (Mondays at 9 pm/ET) shares exclusive intel on stolen kisses, sad goodbyes and Audrey Raines' future with Jack. TV Guide: Let's get this straight: Jack was just roughing you up [in the April 3 episode]. Now you're working with him again? Kim Raver: There have been so many crazy switches for Audrey, but it works perfectly for her character. Her father was in the military and was secretary of state, so this ability to flip sides for the good of the country — it's almost inbred. If it's about saving lives, you get over whatever grudges you have and you move forward. read more

Don't you think a select few ...

Question: Don't you think a select few have no idea what they are talking about when they say 24 has jumped the shark for killing Tony? They believe it's just a simple cheap stunt by the writers, who should be ashamed of themselves. I, on the other hand, congratulate the writers for making such a risky and bold move. If Tony were to survive, would we see a combination of Season 3 and 4 again on Tony's part, teaming up with Jack and whipping some terrorist butt? Personally, I think that would be completely repetitive and not worth seeing yet again. His character did run its course and they made his death not a cheap stunt, but one with an emotional impact that we haven't seen since Teri Bauer died. This is great because Henderson will be the next Nina Myers, which the show has really lacked. If I read correctly, Carlos Bernard believes he would rather have character evolution and a lack of job security than keep playing the same type of character over and over. What do you think? Have ... read more

OK, so we know the Hobbit ...

Question: OK, so we know the Hobbit made the ultimate sacrifice on Monday's 24, but did Tony die as well? Couldn't quite tell from the closing scene.

Answer: Yeah, Tony's toast. Carlos Bernard confirms it himself in the new issue of TV Guide, saying, “Creatively, the writers have done all they could do with Tony.”

24 WINS TONY

No, no, no, there isn't a Broadway musical out there that you've somehow overlooked that stars Nathan Lane as a high-kicking Jack Bauer. What we mean is that the Fox thriller has gotten Carlos Bernard to return as Tony Almeida for the series' upcoming fifth season. Although, come to think of it, it would be pretty funny to see Nathan Lane battling terrorists armed with only the ol' razzle-dazzle. read more
