Carey Mulligan Fast Facts:

Started acting in a school production of The King and I, costarring her older brother, Owen.
Applied to, and was rejected by, three drama schools.
When Gosford Park writer Julian Fellowes spoke at her school, Mulligan convinced her headmistress to introduce them. Fellowes then introduced her to a casting agent.
First on-screen film appearance was playing Kitty Bennett in the 2005 Keira Knightly version of Pride & Prejudice.
Earned a Drama Desk Award nomination for her Broadway debut in the revival of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull in 2008.
Breakthrough came with the role of Jenny in 2008's An Education, about a teenager who dates an older man (Peter Sarsgaard).
